To sell or not to sell my original wheels?

Hey everyone,
When it comes to my 320d Sport Line (F30) 2016, it still has its original wheels, do I sell them or keep them? Or are they not even worth anything? Thinking about buying some darker wheels/mags because my current OEM ones are silver, doesnt really match my car (in my opinion) since I replaced the few pieces of silver trim with black (like my grille).

I dont think there is a huge market for it. Also when you sell the car, you can put the original wheels back on and sell the new wheels. However you might be able to sell it and offset some cost of the purchase of the new wheels, but then you will need to sell the car with your new wheels. My opinion is keep it aside for the day you decide to sell the car

Yeah small market. The market is most likely someone looking for 1 wheel to replace a damaged one.

You can always put a feeler advert on FB Marketplace / Gumtree and see if there are any takers and then decide from there.

This problem with keeping stuff like this is if your car gets written off [God forbid] you are stuck with components you don’t want/need. Sometimes it’s better to sell and move on.

I say sell!

Get the original wheels done in a color you want.

☝️ this IMHO

Especially if you are going black. You may have a change of heart before spending money on expensive black wheels. Darker colours work best when you have crazy calipers and brakes to show off behind them IMHO. They are also (as you probably already know) very difficult to keep looking great. It is unfortunately the curse of loving dark paintwork be it on the bodywork or the wheels 🙃

If this plan won't work for you, I vote to sell them. It isn't like they are going to be repurposed as a track set or something of that sort. Chances are if you do sell or trade the car, you are probably not going to buy a car they are compatible with (apart from offset, so many manufacturers appear to have ditched 5x120 PCD completely)

I was contemplating something similar, although in my case i already purchased an alternate set of replacement OEM wheels for my car.

I now have the original OEM set in my garage taking up space but i am one of those guys that tends to keep all the original parts of cars. BUT my garage is getting a bit full. decisions decisions.

I also have another set of OEM wheels for my other car which adds to the clutter. along with a whole lot of other original OEM parts.

I can't be bothered to keep stock wheels... There is a reason I changed them in the first place, so to keep them with consideration of selling the car in XX years makes no sense. Amortize that wheel cost over ownership period and its not worth the consideration, coupled with the space constraints and general clutter, the case for this is even worse.

Rubber ages, so in effect all that is worth is what the set of wheels will sell for. High value or sought after wheels I can understand, but for a set that is a dime a dozen, no point whatsoever. Sell the wheels and use that money to supplement/offset your new set.

My 2c.

It's how the hoarding starts

Even OEM parts - the chances are high you will either sell the car with the bits on it. You have seen me LITERALLY giving away some OEM parts off the old M5.

If you have opportunity to sell things, sell them. There may be the occasional regret of wishing you had a spare something on hand, but most of the time it is just taking up space and attracting dust and critters into your space.
