Should I replace my standard filter for a Flat Bed or not ? Any advantage besides lasting long or what, and BMC or K&N ?

No advantage whatsoever. Been proven over and over that it gives no performance benefit. Some cases it's even more expensive. I've also seen that the particle filtration is worse on it than on a standard filter.

Ok cool thanks for the advice was going to buy one just now,but I think I should rather leave it then :=):
I did hear that it makes the car breath better but don't know, and it sounds better with one of these

Well this is what I have experienced on my E36 325i
Replace air box with a CAI – car revs up much faster and didn’t struggle as much on the top end, however it over fuelled really badly.
Fitted air box back – car took longer to rev up from low Rpm’s and felt sluggish up top but fuelling returned to normal
If you fit the tarr tech intake, get a re-map (Uniq) to make the best out of it and stop the car from over fuelling .

A clean paper filter in the stock air box will flow more than enough... but paper gets blocked up quicker than cotton or foam... this is why cotton and foam are used for off road racing...

as for filtration most good aftermarket filter makers test their filters using the same test procedures as paper filter have to do...

do you really think rally teams are willing to kill their engines for a few extra HP? they would rather save the engine money and spend the money else where a few hp is not worth it...

I have seen 'K&N' filters OEM in both BMW and Porsche performance intakes...

the US military switched to K&N after filtration issues on their apache helicopters the turbines were being eaten by the desert sand hand had to be changed out often paper got clogged to the point where they tore form the suction...

And any difference ? Performance and sound ?

As stated above - the car revs up faster and feels alot livelier from the bottom. The sound is not intrusive yet loud enough to make you smile.

"To Flat Bed or Not"

Thread title is misleading. I thought you were referring to a flat bed truck:rollsmile:
