:) I havent had either electricity / water or rates bill in over a year......so dont stress mate.
I got more answers from talking to my dog.

Also have not received a bill since last October/November. Slight difference from your situation is that I talk to my cat instead.

.. a lawsuit for your dog that bit the electricity guy when he came to disconnect it ?

LZ, luckily for me its a cat.

Excuse the lame remarks, but I've moved beyond swearing at the poor service delivery we have to put up with .... I went from angry, to laughing at it, to I really don't give a f&*k anymore. I'm hoping (or more like praying) that what goes around does indeed come around and that every politician who contributed to this situation gets exactly what's due to him/her in some form or the other !!!

I sold a house and moved to a new one last year. No issues. Deposit paid on rates and electricity while the transfer happened and everything neatly transferred to the new property afterwards... Bills arrive with annoying regularity and always correct. Difference between estimates and actual readings on the meters is credited every second month. pisses me off...

Remember folks...a vote for the ANC is a vote for change...

To our black forum members, I apologize for the following racist remark, I mean no disrespect, I am colour blind, but I HATE the general black mentallity.

I looked at central fire station the other day, I lived there for a couple of years, that place looks like it belongs in frikken hillbrow (case in point). Its trashed, windows out, has not been painted in prob about 15 years, the guys use to maintain the stations.

None of this budget cut, crap, my dad was telling me that even in his days, brixton fire station, back then already there was no money, if you wanted your station painted, you go out and to it yourself, so the guys went and raised the money.

First thing that happened since the ANC took over all those years ago, the mentallity was under the fire men, "Eish, we are not maintance workers, we will outsource the work,"

That just pisses me off to no end, that work taught a sense of honour, pride, RESPECT, which is now all gone, none of that, its just handouts, and we demand, and that folks, you blame frikken goverment and more correctly the ANC for.

Apartheid was wrong, and a gross injustice to all, but at least under the white man we had core values, and they meant something.

Again, apologies to our hard working decent self respecting folk who happens to be black, I do not include you in this, to the rest, and the white ones as well who is just as bad, take some fscking pride and your work and everything will come right...

Thats right, we dont need much, accountability and pride in your work, the rest will follow.....

lol j/k LZ!

I agree with everything said. Its a pity that with the shift of power came the dynamics of money mongering, poor service delivery and a lot of rubbish talk. There are a lot of pros and cons that come with every government...its a damn shame that the basics are neglected by the current ruling party. Especially when one considers those who are affected the most - the up & coming middle class, and then the poor. Makes me angry actually!

Signed - A pissed off Darkie!

Service is basically joke in most of the company's, take today for instance. I was on my way to pick up some stock from a major company. I phone them 16H00 just to make sure what time they close, I then get told they close at 16H30, so I ask if they can make sure my order is ready as I will be there within 15 mins due to the traffic. I then get told that it is to late and that they would not be able to help me at that time.

So WTF, everybody is complaining business is slow, but nobody is willing to work any more, this is flippin atrocious. (We might not have been 3rd world in the far past, but we sure as hell are there now and going downhill)

When the ANC said a vote for them is a vote for change they were not wrong, they just did not say in which direction the change would be. (That is what you get if you have a lot of criminals running the country).

My point is, somewhere something has got to give...

Lets do talk politics for a second... 10 years ago I was a IT Sub-Contractor for EKSDOM when they did their SAP rollout. We were two white guys that cabled the whole of Letabo Power Station outside Vereeniging, installing the switching, the servers etc. Money was good, our contract was then for a Million rand over three years per person.

Then we got a extension on our contract for another year to do first, up to third line support for the Letabo site via the Megawatt Park call centre. Three months into the contract we get called in, EKSDOM must employ more black people to get their equity stats right for the government...

Now long story short and many a court battle, they settled 75% of the contract they had with us and appointed 8 black incompetent woman, some who have never used a PC in their lives before, to do first up to 3rd line support.

I was phoned up to 2 years later, requesting 'assistance'... Sure, was my answer, I'm living in Cape Town currently, so have to buy a plane ticket, book me into the Rivera Hotel, rent me a car, and pay me after tax R3000p/hr, then I'll do it. And guess what... 9/10 times they would do it. Now what do you think their 'equity' employments cost them per person per month? Back then is R17 000 each = R136 000 p/m which you and I pay for... This just one of millions of instances!

:cursin: :cursin: :cursin:

You do the maths... Now that cost is without the cost to rectify the problems... So it becomes a double even tripple expenditure. So what is Afirmative Action costing this beautiful country... and when will they realize it...

The problem Ebrahim as that when these f$#@ took over we werent a 3rd world country...

Look at another thing, in 1994 the SA Army ranked 3rd in the world after USA and Britain... today we dont even feature on any rankings. I have a friend who is a army Docter, he said that if we had to deploy our army, we cannot send them away from home for more than 30 days at a time because 82% of them have AIDS!! WTF??

Its a downward spiral into self destruction, and the locusts - thats what I call them, will blame it on apartheid and fly off to the next 'green field' leaving everyone else behind after they lined their pockets.

Not talking politics here, but things still work here :)

I hear you Hellas... when we're down in the Cape for our holiday we we're actually amazed at how clean and organized everything looked. And the conditions of the roads

I swear, as an ISO Auditor, this is beyond pathetic!! I'm going to start a consulting agency and write operating procedures for Municipalities according to ISO 9001:2008 Standards with regular audits. I'm going to be a BILLIONARE! :excited:

Hey bro,

i hear that youre an iso auditor. Do you work for any of the accreditation bodies.

Did you do the SAATCA course.

I am also qualified as an auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

Lemme know if you wanna share some thoughts and ideas.

Regards.

Hey X,

Yes I did the SAATCA course also UKAS. I work for a private manufacturing company as Quality Manager. Love to hear from a fellow Auditor. Do you work for a accreditaion body? I'm currently developing a electronic program which does full Non Conformance analisys with reporting and statistics.

This is something I want to patent and use typically in our goverment instituations to improve on service delivery. Obviously it will mainly point to one thing doing root cause analysis: INCOMPETENCE, but thats where you have a facilitator consultant to delop training programmes based on NCR's.

What do you think? Want to partner? :)

@M - programme sounds good.

I dont work for any accreditation body. I currently work for a manufacturing organisation as their SHEQ Manager.

Auditing is one part of my job. I specialise in SHREQ (R is for Risk) Systems implementation, management and improvement specifically in terms or ISO 9001, 14001, 16001 and OHSAS 18001. This also includes Enterprise Risk Management.

Im currently in my final year, B.Tech: Safety Management.

The downside to the programme youre proposing is that goverment will not be able to cover up their incompetencies. And that is a problem cos if they cant cover up, then theyre not interested. Though it is a great Idea. At my previous employer I had set up (With the help of our software developer) a NCR / Compliance Database programme which helped link the NCRs to the System, and the System to the Legislative requirements. This all helped feed into the Risk Database which we also custom created. Worked very well.

System you had there sounds great! Mine like I said takes it one step further with my wife being a skills developer. She is phenominal with this - and I'm not saying this because shes my wife.

What I should do is take it to the DA, seeing as they seem keen on improvement for all... Help the underdog a bit and see what comes from it!

With regards to the B.Tech... Have you heard that they are changing it at the en of the year to a B.Com? Apparently you can have both for an extra years worth of study through UNISA...

We have a SHER department here too and my department work very closely with them. I love the fact that we can show improvement in operations almost on a daily basis. I started working here 3 years ago, back then we had customer complaint of around R3mil a year, currently we are sitting on R20 000 Financial year to date... Loving it, thats why this poor service gets to me, because there is ALWAYS room for improvement.

The only company in SA to ever go beyond ISO is Johnson & Johnson... Those guys have a sleek operation like you will not believe!

@M - Yeah the system worked lekker.

It might be a good idea to approach the DA as it might give them an advantage over the current bumbling rulers.

Great company you have there. Where are you guys based.

Ive heared about the B.com. but didnt know that an extra year would allow me to hold both the b.tech and the bcom. it would be cool to have both qualifications. I want to also do the Nebosh Diploma.

You can read about our company here. We are one of three Silicon Carbide producers in the world, and the only one on the African continent. Making us fairly unique. :)

We are in Mpumalanga, next to Matla Power Station which is about 40km from Secunda and 16km from Kriel.

SOOOOO guess what happen at my house yesterday while at a meeting in Witbank... If you guessed 'power cut due to unpaid water bill' you are 100% correct!

So the domestic worker phones me, 'Meneer, die bliks@ms het alweer die krag afgesit, Eish, en ek is besig met die strykwerk en ek kry nie die ounooi in die hande nie' (My wife was in Jo'burg, doing a business presentation so she could not be reached understandably). IMMEDIATELY my 'moer meter' hits the top of the scale and continues upward... I excuse myself from the meeting, getting on the phone to Govan Mbeki Municipality...

'The number you have dailed does not exsist'... phone 1023... Get the Secunda switchboard number... Ask to speak to Vusi... Phone rings...diverts back to switchboard who just hangs up the call... this happens 6 TIMES! Now I get in the Navara, its 110km from Witbank to Bethal taking the N4... Fumming, 40km before Bethal I Finally get a hold of Vusi... AND I LET RIP!

'A ser, but I'm sorry for the inconveniance ne, we make da mastake, my sisteem she is offline bat I can see you paid your account' Explaining to him that I'm now 30km from Bethal and if my power is not on by the time I get home there will be HELL in his office... 'No ser, no problem, im sending tha guys now, your power, she will be on in 5 minutes' ... Ill be home in 10 so you better hurry the F@#$ up!

Get home, no power, wait 40 minutes... Nothing... Open the pillar box, switch on my power, get into the Navara, straight to their offices... Now Im not going to relay the whole story again as to why every month they cut my power wrongfully - read the first post for details - So I walk into Vusi's office, straight pass security who is SLEEPING at his post... Vusi goes from pitch black to pale gray and then I let rip... I swear, I'm not proud of the way I behaved, but FFS, enough is enough. I let him have every cropped up feeling and emotion I had in my guts for the last 32 years. eventually his boss storms into the office trying to calm me down, the security guard has since woken up and was standing behind a water cooler, to scared to move or say a word.

Eventually Vusi's boss trys to explain that it can take up to three months to get a faulty water meter repaired and that I should just not pay the bill!!! WHAT THE F!@#$!!!! So I explain to this Idiot in no laymens terms, that I now understand that HIS incompetence have rubbed off on the rest of his department! And that he should go and ask his schoolfees back because he wasted his time.

So now I explain to him my next move: I Have proof of reporting my meter as faulty, they 'claimed' to have fixed the problem 90 days ago by replacing the meter... Yet the meter number is still the same. So i ask for the proof of Exchange... THIS PRICK, tells me to F-off and go look for the proof elsewhere. So now I'm about to grab this P@#S by the neck.

I calmy explain to him, if thats the case them I'm getting in my car, going to police and laying a charge of fraud aginst the municipality because:

A - I have the proof that I payed ALL the faulty Bills
B - I have proof of reporting my water meter as faulty (300 + units of water for a normal household a month WTF!)
C - They keep cutting my electricity for 'non payment' of water accounts
D - Leaving me to assume that someone is taking my money for themselves.

So I walk out, go to the police and do EXACTLY that! Then I phone the Head of Finance in Secunda and told him what I just did. Plus I phone the attorney incharge of the Ratepayers Association...who nearly shat himself laughing, but supported the charges.

This morning, my wife phones me, PISSING herself with laughter... Vusi and his boss are in the complex, checking EVERY SINGLE water meter, came to our door, hesitated to knock, and appoligised for THEIR POOR SERVICE yesterday. They promised to have all sorted out by the end of the day...

Now lets see how it goes... Will keep you posted.
