The scenario:

Sold my house 14 months ago with a good profit, then bought a lovely Townhouse (Lock up and go). When i moved out of my old house, I send my wife to the Municipality with the final Water & Electricity readings... Note: NO pre-paid electricity. My wife gives them the readings, 'official' behind the counter : 'Ahhh, but Mam, according to our records you have a pre-paid'

Now Ive been paying W&E at that stage to the tune of about R700 - R1000 p/m where around R300 was for water. (This before EKSDOM's increases) I actually get a bill for electricity... WTF!!! :hammerhead: After a ensuing fight, they say they owe me R400 odd rands which will be credited to towards the connections for the new house. FINE! :banghead:

SO we move, the new house has pre-paid electricity. They take 8 months to register the prepaid meters for the new complex (17 Houses) so for eight months, every month I go to the Municipality to find out when I will be receiving the 'face' of my meter as the open base of the meter is sitting there bridged out. (Kids can climb on things to get to it and get shocked)

First excuse - They lost the faces... :censored:
2nd excuse - They programmed them wrong.... :censored: :censored:
3rd excuse - They are waiting for the cards for the meters... :censored: :censored:

So after 7 months they install the meters... Go to buy electricity, meters arent registered on the system... :banghead: Now I'm no electrician but I went straight home, swithced the power off at the pillar box, which have never been locked, took off the face, bridged it out as it was before and phoned them to correct it... Took the another 4 weeks to rectify...

So in March I get my first water bill: R1168 for the year, beacause thats how long it took them to register those meters... So I pay it. Next month the bill arrives for water: R1345... for one month WWWTTTTTFFF!!!! Report the meter as faulty, but pay it anyways as we went on leave and I dont want my power cut while I'm on leave for three weeks seeing as all my meat will be vrot by the time I'm back.

TODAY: Wife gets home, power is cut with a notice that we owe the Municipality R2786...for water!!!! By now I'm going BALISTIC!! Get on the phone, after being transferred to TWELVE different people I get to the 'person in charge'... And I let rip... Needles to say, I was NOT being polite and called a spade a spade. :mmm: She has the odasity to ask me 'How much do I owe them?' !!!!!!

I OWE YOU JACK SHIT GOVAN MBEKI MUNICIPALITY!!! YOU OWE ME OVER R1000.00 BECAUSE THE CREDIT YOU PROMISED ME ISNT ON MY STATEMENT EITHER!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :censored: :censored:

I reported the meter faulty and have the 'blue' form given to me by the oke that was there who said the meter must be replaced!! FFS!!!

20 Minutes later my power was back on... Will see what this month has installed.

My question is simply this... HOW do these INCOMPETENT IDIOTS get into these positions?? And how do these Municipalitys books balance at the end of each month??? :dunno:

RANT OVER!

I feel you J. Had similar runs with Multichoice and Telkom in this year already. I have yet to pay electricity at my new home. Did manage to get the other stuff onto my name, but the water/services and electricity comes on two separate bills. Not sure, but I'm waiting for the shocker. Good thing though this is Cape Town. Not talking politics here, but things still work here :)

I hear you Hellas... when we're down in the Cape for our holiday we we're actually amazed at how clean and organized everything looked. And the conditions of the roads

I swear, as an ISO Auditor, this is beyond pathetic!! I'm going to start a consulting agency and write operating procedures for Municipalities according to ISO 9001:2008 Standards with regular audits. I'm going to be a BILLIONARE! :excited:

Bottom line - The level of incompetence in SA is GROSSLY understated. It is amazing as to how bad the situation really is and how few people have the ability to think beyond their noses. Public services have the "cream of the crop" when it comes to this problem. :cursin::censored::banghead: Obviously there are exceptions............

its typical, and no questions asked......

If there is a queue, everybody just goes and stands at the back......nobody asks any questions, we just wait...........

best example Makro, and their security wanting to check stuff, that you have bought that now belongs to you when you leave. On a Saturday people queue to have their stuff checked.......me, walk through, tell them to get more people if they possibly hope to check mine.......

Makro still makes a decent effort. Most places the security glances in the bag and makes a mark on the slip. Wasted both our time since I can have half the shop in there, there is no way they can check it with a glance.

Jakkie, I'll carry the bat and break kneecaps when you start your business. (Oh, and Coisman as backup incase they take my bat away...)

Security at most places is a joke.............I was once stopped by the security in the building where in previously worked and the oke wanted to search the car so I said it was fine. After he was done and he told me I could go, I asked him what he was looking for. His response............Hey bru, I dont know but its a graaf :spit:

Remember folks...a vote for the ANC is a vote for change...

To our black forum members, I apologize for the following racist remark, I mean no disrespect, I am colour blind, but I HATE the general black mentallity.

I looked at central fire station the other day, I lived there for a couple of years, that place looks like it belongs in frikken hillbrow (case in point). Its trashed, windows out, has not been painted in prob about 15 years, the guys use to maintain the stations.

None of this budget cut, crap, my dad was telling me that even in his days, brixton fire station, back then already there was no money, if you wanted your station painted, you go out and to it yourself, so the guys went and raised the money.

First thing that happened since the ANC took over all those years ago, the mentallity was under the fire men, "Eish, we are not maintance workers, we will outsource the work,"

That just pisses me off to no end, that work taught a sense of honour, pride, RESPECT, which is now all gone, none of that, its just handouts, and we demand, and that folks, you blame frikken goverment and more correctly the ANC for.

Apartheid was wrong, and a gross injustice to all, but at least under the white man we had core values, and they meant something.

Again, apologies to our hard working decent self respecting folk who happens to be black, I do not include you in this, to the rest, and the white ones as well who is just as bad, take some fscking pride and your work and everything will come right...

Thats right, we dont need much, accountability and pride in your work, the rest will follow.....

This reminds me of a cartoon with the following caption. Picture this on a voting stand:

Also, don't want to get political, but I found the above quite amusing, in a sad "reality check" type of way ...
