Ticking noise @ 3000RPM

Hi Guys


car: 318i 2000 model Auto

@ 3000 RPM there is a ticking noise that i am hearing from the engine. I have not heard this at anything below 3000RPM. The car is not slugish in any way and serviced.

Has any one experienced the same.

Serious, its not a bomb, something of the valves i think, before this BM i drove a Getz 1.6.
no problems....

Err. the M42 engine is known for its Crankshaft moving off its bearings or getting misaligned..

I had this problem with my 2000 318i. My mechanic had to take the engine out and get the crankshaft fixed. It was knocking on the case.

Dont drive that car!!!

Maybe wrong grade oil. What grade are you using?
