Volkswagen Golf R32 | Tornado Red | One Day Enhancement
I have always been a fan of the MK5 GTI, everyone knows this in fact the MK5 GTI is what got me so interested in Detailing to begin with.
Coming from a family where at the age of 7 my dad took deliver of a VR6, followed by us ordering a R32 before cancelling it for a GTI due to waiting time I have never had the chance to work on one of these fantastic machines.
With emissions and engine tax in the UK manufacturers like VW have had to discontinue this motor in the Golf. A pity because it is a beautiful motor.
With a fellow forum member (Howie) taking delivery of his Tornado Red R32 I was extremely excited when he contacted me to make a booking.
We arrived at his offices to the sight of this:
The car was in fairly good condition, a couple of small issues here and there but nothing too major.
We began by cleaning the mag wheels, followed by the arches and then the tyres themselves.
The car was then sprayed down with a High Pressure Hose, before being foamed:
With the car clean, taped up and ready for correction I attacked the car with a firm polishing pad and Chemical Guys No. 2 Correction which was worked down to a finishing pad using CG Nano Polish to really bring out the depth of the Tornado Red.
A quick 50/50 with before on the left and after on the right.
A couple of shots mid detail of the finish achieved:
With correction complete we re-washed the R32, applied Ez Creme Glaze to really make the red pop as well as two layers of Collonite Wax.
The mag wheels were waxed with Rim Wax, arches and trim dressed with O new trim dressing by Chemical Guys and the exhausts received a quick buff.
The glass was shined up with Autoglym Fast Glass and then it was time for a final once over followed by a photoshoot!
I think the results were fantastic, the finish much improved and the car as red as ever.
One day I will have one of these in my garage, just for that exhaust note! :joy:
What do you guys think?
Mike
