It's a pity how drastically different it is to the FT1 concept and that it no longer competes with the GTR (OEM vs. OEM)
We'll see what the aftermarket industry has in store. I'm curious what visual changes/body kits will be released. I sucks they did away with the rear. (built in exhaust tips)

Here is a render of one:

You never know, Toyota might release a more track orientated Supra with the m3/m4 motor or maybe the Lexus v8 to take on the GT-R, that concept does look so insane

I was expecting something with a modern version of the legendary 2JZ-GTE under the bonnet. The BMW engine is very nice but can it be tuned for 1000 horsepower? Or even 2000 horsepower? I don't think so.

A modern version of the 2JZ is arguably under the bonnet. Nobody except maybe the hypercar makers make motors with that kind of headroom anymore (even they plan for a 100000km rebuild in some cases). People are acting like every supra is a 1000hp or 2000hp beast with a stock bottom end. 600hp sure but go and see what goes into building one to those levels properly. I assure you it us not bolt ons and software... You arent going to find a cast iron closed deck bottom end in m/any new high performance cars in 2019. We have wildly different laws and regulations these days. I am sure if it had a 2JZ modified for modern standards, people would be up in arms as well

Budler Motorsport would beg to differ...

I wouldn't worry too much, the tuners will (as they have before) take care of the big numbers.

The only reservation for me, much like many of you, is the styling, its a little weak to be honest. Would have been way more desirable if it had more of the concept's lines.

Would I have one over the new Z4, no, I don't think I will, but neither will I have the Supra itself. I would much rather spend my coin on something like a F13 M6.

I think while its not perfect, they tried to still keep it accessible to a wider range of drivers, more people will be able to afford this compared to a GTR.

One interesting decision is going with the B58 versus their own twin turbo v6 which they are using in the new LS and is rumoured to come to the new IS-F models. South African pricing would be interesting, especially compared to the Z in 40i guise. Though given the 86 is already over 580k its not seeming promising. Am I the only one who thinks thats crazy pricing for the 86? I mean at that price versus an M140i/M240i even being a drivers car the lack of power just makes no sense. At that price I would even rather buy the new Miata.

I really don't understand all the hatred? Once they are on the road and in stock form still how cool is it going to be to say you took down a Supra :fencelook::smilebounce:

South Africa always has crazy pricing because we cannot import like other countries...its a monopoly

I think I know where all the hate is coming from towards the new car.

Those who adore the old Supra will be satisfied with nothing else. So anything new that is not exactly like the old Supra will be junk to them.

I will admit that I have no love for the old Supra, and therefore my mind is not clouded or restricted from liking this new render.:tiptoe:

I love the design especially the thing they have going on at the back like a Ferrari 812 Superfast. Also you call it a fake BMW but what is wrong with that?

BMW already makes amazing engines and they have been used in many applications successfully. If it works, why make a whole new engine when the kings of 6 Cylinders already have one suitable for the application :dunnoanymore:

I also think it has some nice design elements. I personally don't like the nose that much, but maybe in the flesh it would be better.
