Just wanted to share my story,
I always wanted an E36 motorsport eversince i was in school, Once i started working, money was tight cos of responsibilities so i had settled on driving a few citi golfs till i could find a decent one. I had come across a perfect E36 318 motorsport Dakar yellow beemer that i just had to have. things didnt go as planned as i was newly married with a kid on the way so i had to settle for a 316i auto so the SO can drive it as well, after all it was gonna be the family car while i kept my golf as a toy. In a way i was still glad that it was an E36 cos i loved that shape (i still do), however that car gave me enough hassles and with the money i ended up spending on it, i could have bought myself a lekker 328 ind. i was just short of parking the car on street and hoping someone would drive away with this car relieving me from all the stress that this car caused me, but i couldnt bring myself to cause the same kind of stress to another person.
Eventually i sold the car at a HUGE loss, bought the SO a golf 3 and swore NEVER to touch another Beemer ever. After driving my bother in laws e46 318 as well as my uncles E46 330i i believed i was just unlucky, and bought a lemon, and that was an expensive lesson. A few years later i found the club through google and started reading up on the technical stuff and i was surprised to see that there was no mudslinging or flaming fellow members. People seemed to helpful, humble and most of all had respect for one another. THAT was the key to unlocking my desicion to buy another bmw as i felt that i wanted to belong to this "family" who had an undescribable love for the brand
A few months later i purchased an E46 318i and which to me is in a stunning condition. and with the help of fellow fanatics, it is aging well as time passes. i have had many cars over the past 13 years and can say boldly that this IS the best car that i have EVER owned. It might not be a 330i or an M3, but its my baby and it is treated like part of the family because it takes care of my family
Moving forward i dont think i will drive anything else than a Beemer cos of the quality of a beemer, Also to say thank you to all for the help, advice and freindliness.
Heres to making more friends this saterday :joy:
