This is TAG’s phat M4

California’s tuning scene is quite elaborate. We’re not going to refer to it as the West Coast tuning scene, because, you know: there’s not much lowered madness rolling around Oregon or Washington State.
It’s a uniquely Sunshine state thing and the latest work of lunacy to emerge from California is this rather non-factory BMW M4. It’s a calibration between Vorsteiner and TAG Motorsports, who despite their German and Swiss sounding brand names are both domiciled in the 31st State.
TAG wished to do something akin to an M4 GTS, hence the extraordinarily bulky Vorsteiner GTRS4 wide-body kit. It’s a world of swollen fenders and DTM-style aero skirts and spoilers. We very much doubt you’ll get around pillars in an underground parking garage with those rear fenders or clear even the gentlest incline with that front splitter.
Beyond the body Tupperware TAG’s added a custom crafted titanium exhaust system and flashed the 3-litre turbocharged six’s ECU, so it’s certainly louder and perhaps a touch keener than BMW’s 317kW factory engine.
Other bits? Well, obviously the 20-inch wheels aren’t stock and the those bubble-gum green hued brake callipers behind them aren’t incidental either: they match the cabin accent colours on this M4’s seat belts and headrests. Clever.
Excruciatingly tasteless or just the thing for those M4 owners seeking some individuality? We’re certainly not going to judge, let us just say this TAG M4 makes sense in California, but perhaps not so much beyond its borders.
