Go to bmw and get yourself a quote on the parts for a service ect, even if you diy it will give you an idea on maintenance costs. Throttle actuator gears give up I believe that you get a diy fix for it , budget for bearing replacement to be on the safe side if you going past the 80k km mark.

In the current economic time, I would stay away from a car that is expensive to maintain and heavy on fuel. Obviously unless you have money lying around to cover uncertainty's. It will put a smile on your face daily however!

If it's going to be a daily driver I would recommend a 335i the v8s kill the fuel and you can get a newer model 335i for the same money

I say get it, you only live once, and life is too short to worry about fuel consumption.

Just check it our properly via a reputable BMW dealer, pull the history etc.

There are quite a few E90 M3's on autotrader but they have high mileage.

I say go for it! If I could afford it, I would definitely buy one. Just not as a daily driver though :nonono:

I'd say as long as you do a thorough check on the history of the car, like someone has mentioned...you should be ok. oh yes, and get a superb warranty!

not to sure about maintenance etc.

from an ownership perspective its something else and if you can get one you should. i was and still am a massive 135 fan..loved the car more than any of my others but the m3 JUST is a different experience all together, it took me a long while to actually sell my 135 and test drove many e92's, almost 2 years actually i wasn't convinced. it was the pace, torque etc.. that just couldn't get me there but once i found the right one...it was all over and haven't looked back.. really.

so yes, go for it and don't settle for the spec you want IMHO

A great choice. Look for a good clean one take all the preventative measures and enjoy. You won't regret it.

It's not the perfect daily drive unless you live in the UAE.
Tyres cost - R4k / tyre good brand
Cars over 60k kms will have the dreaded throttle actuator problem looming in the background... R35k parts and labour at dealers.
R3k for oil change - oil only- you may get away with R2500
Brake pads - R4k all round.

If you've got a Hyundai i10 as a daily then I'd say go for it as its a thrill to drive each time you get in.
The sweet sound of that 4,0 V8 is beaut.
The E90 was also made in ltd numbers so you're sorted there.

You must maintain a warranty with a car like this or it will just be a ballache to own
There are some lovely F3X models out there which combine sportiness with power - 328i for eg
Good luck
