Howzit guys

I'm new to the forum , did do an intro but don't know if I posted it in the correct place. Justed wanted to find out what's the going rate for a m3 csl.... I'm considering buying an 06 csl with 110000km FSH with bmw etc.... Is it safe to buy a csl with this mileage?vehicle is very clean, diff was done at 103000km at BMW, the previous owner really looked after the car, his done like 5000km in 2 and 6 months, the owner has purchased the car from bmw 2 years n 6 months ago. What price should I offer for this vehicle? What should I look out for when buying a csl. I'm scared of buying it and then having gear box trouble and worried about over paying for a csl with such high mileage.

Welcome

Check rear sub frame for cracks by stripping carpets and getting under the car.

Gearbox is not an issue per say provided it has been maintained.

Whatever the price that you pay do have money aside for preventative maintenance.

Wish you well on your purchase

Hey Bud the car you looking at buying is one hell of a car no doubt :praise:
IIRC the ///M3 CSL only came out 2003 - 2004... but lets wait till some of the Forum expert comments

Ya as far as i know there are no csl's after 04 :fencelook: you sure you're not being fooled? Provide some pics for the fellow fanatics  no doubt a csl is one of the greatest machines of all time :joy: I'm hunting one myself :tease:

Tareeq you are correct bud, the CSL was actually only produced from mid '03 to end '03 but obviously by the time some of the cars got to SA they were registered as '04 models, so Wild Singh unless the original owner held off on registering the vehicle for 2 years which is highly unlikely and not very possible, something doesn't quite add up.

If it is a mistake and maybe an '04 CSL with that mileage I'd say a fair price if it's super clean would be R350-R380k. The gearbox does give some problems but a lot of the time is a smaller fix than many people may say so just make sure you have a mechanic who knows about the SMG boxes.

The gearbox is an atrocious piece of garbage. Even when its working perfectly fine.

As A1exander said - check the rear subframe for cracks.

With the mileage mentioned, I would say a fair offer would be R350k if the car is in fine fettle all round.

Ga - A lot of them sat unsold on the dealer floors, so late registration is not unheard of. Even the one I had was registered in 2005

No such thing as a 2006 CSL. Make sure this guy is not fooling you. What number is it? THere should be a placard in the car indicating what number it was. Also, on the side of the car, the grills on the front fenders, do they say CSL on them?

Try get the VIN number, we can check the car for you. Is it in JHB?

Check subframe for cracks. At 110 000km, I would also be prepared to do Vanos seals and possible Vanos pump disc replacement. Axis Engine works are the best at doing this.

Good luck man.

I'm also abit puzzled cos I totally forget about the dates of the csl being manufactured....mayb ul know the car, it's from dbn, a black csl with csl rims painted bright red :)yuck:I know bright red:yuck::cry:)

He says it's no 23 of 65.... With regad to the vanos, he says he had it checked and replaced the vanos valve recently even though it didn't need to be changed. I havnt seen the car yet, my bru is going to view it tommorow cos I'm up in jhb n his in dbn. Il get the vin number ASAP

RED?!??!?!

Oh boy... I'm a little worried for you. Get the vin, and go to BMW and ask for info on the car. They will tell you if it is indeed a CSL and when it was made. Or one of us can.
