Wow! What an epic weekend away!! Words cannot aptly describe the pure awesomeness of what happened!! I'd like need the help of the Kung fu panda to describe the awesomeness!!
Our Friday afternoon started off with the boys in JHB being overly existed and arriving at their said point of departure an hour early! They were so eager that they forgot to take a few pre-departure pics!! We did however get a shopping spree photo. Omar must have had his whip out ready to lead his warriors down to Harrismith!!
The Durban contingent had a departure committee to see us off and we did leave a little late, but thats cos we did not want to leave our brothers trailing behind. We were joined by the Boost Nation Crew, who took some amazing drone footage as well as photographs of all the on goings for the weekend. I personally cannot wait for them to be released!
We stopped along the way to fetch 2 other fanatics at the Ultra city in escourt and after a quick breather were back on the road in true Fanatics style!
The Durban and JHB parties both eventually met at the Bergview Engen garage in Harrismith. Introductions were made at high velocity, and hot chocolates were refilled, and we were on our way to Clarens!
The departure was a little tricky due to roadworks at the early stage of the departure, it became especially more tricky when every conceivable GPS suddenly lost signal, but with a whole lot of can do attitude and tanks filled we forged forward to the resort.
The evening of Friday, was a relaxed one, most of us chilled, had a bite to eat and prepped for the next days activities.
Morning broke to this amazing view! For the first timers that had joined us, seeing what we had driven through, was breath taking!!
After many a cold start, a group of us headed into town to fill our bellies at the Artists café.
They're was a little shopping that was done. One thing I did leave out, that this year we actually had a great turnout of wives/partners/SOs - hence the heavy dents in our wallets, but it was great to have everyone enjoying all that Clarens had to offer us! Be it on the roads or in the shops!!
Some of us headed back to the resort to shoot the breeze whilst others stayed in town, browsing through the shops or going for Spa treatments. For those of you who have never been to one Clarens with the Fanatics, the one thing we make clear, is that there aren't any hard and fast activities. It's a weekend of chill. The one item we have on our agenda is a drive through the reserve for a photo session but I'll get to that!!
So back at the resort, the Boost Nation Crew thought it would be a good idea to do some calibration runs with their drone. So off went the volunteers to have the drone track them up and down the road.
I'm not losing my mind, there's a drone somewhere in this picture!!!
After everyone returned from their respective sprees, we waited the arrival of one of the generals from durban, Grand Master Kish together with 922-ZN . The troops were rounded up, and we set off for our afternoon drive up in the mountains.
That wrapped up our drive and photo shoot for Saturday evening. By this time we were all starving so it was back to the resort for our usual Saturday night Braai festivities.
I shall continue with part 2 of this epic saga in the next few days. If I did omit any details please gents, add it on. Also if I may ask guys posting pics up on IG, please use the tag #Clarens16 so that we may all share the pics!!
Thanks again everyone for making this event such an awesome memory!
