… and just like that, it’s over!
The busiest weekend in TheFanatics history felt as if it took forever to get here and in a blink of an eye it was over. Honestly, Race Day 16 was a challenge for me for a lot of reasons but due to my imminent move away from SA, I had to have it done and done in style. Perhaps my focus should have been more about the most important aspect of the day, Racing, rather than pleasing the crowds. Anyways, lessons learnt and I shall take it all as gaining experience.
Appreciation is due to all who made the event a great success, as without you it would not be an event in the first place.
Our sponsors, you guys are all amazing people with so much enthusiasm for what you guys do. Seeing your teams come through with branded cars or branded clothing and sticking together through the day really made the event spectacular. Associating drivers/cars with tuners is great. At one point, I saw a group of gents chatting all wearing different tuners gear. Was so heart-warming to see the togetherness.
Just to name the sponsors:
Xcede Performance
CleanCarTech
FR&R Tuning
TMSS Exhausts
Masstronix
RennZport
Players Wheel and Service Centre
VPS Randburg
Once again, thank you for sponsoring and making Race Day 16 epic!!
The team that assisted me, you guys were soldiers of the day. Any task assigned was executed with ease. The first entry point was well managed by the 5 or 6 gents through the shifts. Scrutineering went on with no issues and quickly too, I didn’t expect it… The guys updating the times in the WhatsApp group, as this is a first time for this task, we did have a few teething issue, but at the end I think it worked well. Managing of the lines, we tried our best to accommodate everyone, the day started off 45 minutes late so that was the delay and on consensus from the racers we extended the 1km cut off time. To Nick and Bradon who collected, setup, packed-up and delivered the gazebos, banners, etc from and to my house. I was still at ODI at 6pm when they arrived at my house to offload. Anyone who assisted, you did a great job. I’ll be handing out rep points through the week to you guys. Perhaps we can meet for lunch sometime in the next 2 weeks as a thank you as well.
There are a few people that I would like to point out, I hope I did not forget anyone, my mind is still a bit sleepy.
The photographers – Divio, Rawj, Aqeel, Yulz, Farzana, Blackwolf and the many more than I didn’t even introduce myself to but let in to take pics. Thank you for taking the time out and assist us with no question asked. I hope the conditions were good for you all. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
Fuzz, braving it out in the commentator box and doing a splendid job i must say. New day job? Thank you Fozeyl.
Alberton-Tulbagh Guesthouse (Jamal and Sajida) for the homeliest stay over place I have seen. From the guys who did stay over, they all said they felt like they were at home. I spent many hours there as well and I too was comfortable and relaxed all the time. Also, thank you for catering our staff lunch, food and atmosphere was excellent.
S&I AutoAccessories (Steven and Irene), you guys have become family to TheFanatics, you are always willing to help us. The red bulls and waters handed out to racers in the queue were sponsored by S&I. We were trying our best to get make sure everyone had one through the day. It was refreshing and needed very much.
My brother in law, Irshaad, for not only arranging the tent and chairs but also bring me wheels to move around with. That trike was awesome. Thank you.
Industrial Punk Designs (Donovan Porter), the clutch clocks are so awesome, thank you for assisting with getting them ready for Race Day. Such a gentleman.
EyeFull Promotions (Kylie) for arranging the pit girls for the event, in the last minute. They really did look pleasing and the TheFanatics branded clothing really put the cherry on top.
ODI (Ivan and Rachel) for the use of their race track, many thanks.
Halaal Food Caterers for the amazing chows, I ate once but it was so good. Thank you guys.
Nas Ismail for coming through and selling his merchandise.
Apologies for there being no TheFanatics merchandise on sale, the team did not have capacity for someone to stand at the reg table all the time.
To all the participants and spectators, thank you for being lenient with us through the day, there were some aggro gents in the morning but I forgive them. Please forgive me if I upset you in anyway.
To the racers, apologies for the mess up on the 400m timings. I have reported it to ODI and will contact them later in the week again.
Another successful Race Day!!
Bring on Race Day 17… (Hopefully in KZN)
