The Silver Shadow - My 320d

Good day guys, new member here thought I would post some pictures of my car.

I recently I got handed down a 2005 e90 320d that my dad used to call the Silver Shadow.

Here she is a little dirty after a roadtrip from Durban to Potch (4.6l/100km's btw :))

She had some body damage when I got her. Front bumper was been replaced and rear fixed. Unfortunately I recently scratched the rear bumper myself. Seeing as how the rear bumper has been repaired before and the slides/guides are fairly broken I am now looking at getting an M-Sport rear bumper fitted as well as new slides to hold them in place.

No pics of the scrape because I am ashamed

I have had her on the rollers at the VW Club Tri City Dyno Day earlier this year. She made 108kW and 351Nm, which I belive was wheel power. So not bad for a stock 2005 320d. I am however looking at getting a downpipe and a software remap for some extra oomph.

Future plans include (highly dependent on finances):

  • LCI Halogen Headlights, for the Angel Eyes.
  • M-Sport Gear Knob, or ZHP maybe, not entirely sure that I like the perforated leather on the M-Sport.
  • Above mentioned downpipe and remap
  • Above mentioned rear M-Sport bumper
  • Getting one Style 156 rim, I have a set where one is buckled.
  • When my current 16" tyres are tired :)D) find a set of style 194's to go with the rear M-Bumper.

Thanks for looking guys, I know this car isn't particularly exciting, but for my first boosted car and first diesel car she is a lot of fun.

:ty:

Watch what you do with your crow bar, and you will have less scratches on your car...

I see what you did there

To clarify though I have only scratched her, I was not responsible for needing to replace panels :)

Hey guys so a pretty big thing (for me) happened today. On Saturday I went to BMW to order a part, today they phoned me to say that it had arrived. So I drove straight after work to pick it up, then proceeded to fit it in the parking lot at Supertech

Yes I bought myself an E46 ZHP knob as an early Christmas present. Straight fit in my standard non M-Sport E90, even keeping the original boot. My standard knob was annoying me, it has a scratch and is just too tall. I know this isn't a 'short shifter' but the knob is slightly shorter, and weighted. I know that is probably 90% placebo but it feels like I'm driving a different car. Low speed, low boost shifts are smoother, and quick downshifts are wonderful now.

Also not sure if it's because it's weighted but it doesn't seem to vibrate as aggressively during idle

I prefer the look of this knob to the E90 M-Sport one, as I am not a fan of the shape and the perforation. And for an OEM part not badly priced at all.

So that's my small update for December, really considering an M-Sport steering wheel now :roflol: And yes my interior needs cleaning
