The ominous signs of the end of times (for the 323i, that is)

The 323i has recently taken up the bad habit of smoking.

It started as the occasional puff to be socially accepted between the masses of diesels and expired Toyota's out there.

Today it became a permanent occurance on startup which is now both embarrassing and worrying.

It is still under motorplan and i intend on making a huge fuss at Auto Atlantic on Monday morning, because I've had it there for exactly the same reason a few months ago!

Damn, why dont they fix the problem for you. Insist on seeing the job card after your visit and an explanation of what they have done. If that fails, tell them you will report their service on this forum, that should make them reconsider.:thumbs:

Yeah you're right. I also want to see their previous jobcard. I want to see if they did a compression test & valve stem seal check.

That is totally unacceptable, I agree with LZ, demand a new motor.

At the least a compression test if done dry and wet will show up the rings or valve stem seals . Then the decisions need to be made - motorplan to sort out .

this is the main problem i have with motorplan... its just not in the dealerships best interest to fix the car properly...

i would try go over their heads...

Well, the car is booked in for tomorrow, and i hope the for the best (best being they replace the faulty part).

Ok guys..

To make a long story short: Car was at BMW from Monday till Tuesday afternoon. Compression test and leakage test done. Failed.

A PUMA case has been opened with BMW SA and I'm currently awaiting feedback from said case.

PuMA is a worldwide BMW database of all reported problems and most with the their appropriate fixes. The acronym means Problem and Measures management Aftersales or in German: Problem und Meßnahmenmanagement Aftersales.

PUMA case response: drive for 1000km then return to do another inspection. Cylinder head will be removed.

I am not happy about this at all!

As soon as i know what will happen repair-wise, i will post here.
