How the hell did you do that? :praise:

With Tiaan's electric spray gun, and with Rick's paint he mixed for me :)

And a lot of time carefully filling the cracks with paint, evening out the surface and multiple layers of paint.

I didn't take pics of the first 3 layers of paint. It wasn't very diluted and gave a very shiny appearance, much like the before pics and that revealed the imperfections. Rick told me that thinning it would give a more matt look. So that's what I did :)

A very nice acquisition Andy

And a testament to Rick's abilities and patience.

Your efforts looks as if they really paid off in the end. Those seats look much better

Now THIS is a car! :praise:
I Should have owned it a long while back already, but I think there could be no better owner than yourself right now Andy, other than its previous owner of course!

Congrats again on the acquisition bud! History indeed! Such a 2 face car this! Epic in every right!

Well done Andy,

I don't think there was a better example available anywhere.

Having owned one & driven this particular example I can assure you miles = smiles.

Glad to see some of my photo's were deemed worth posting.

Here's a couple more. (Before the OEM wheels & bumper)

Nice work Andy!
Isnt there a danger of the paint cracking, by applying too many layers? Just asking...
Would be interested, keep us posted bud!

Andy it's great to see you doing the little things I wanted to do but couldn't always get around to. Really pleased this car has a fine new owner!

I went all OCD over the mechanicals, so now the car is just getting better and better with the extra cosmetic attention. I nearly got lynched at work when they heard I sold it.

I'm not Surprised, everytime I drive the car or open the bonnet I just think to myself how much TLC has been spent on this car.

I was convinced I would never own an E34 again, but this was an easy exception to make :)

@ 444YYY You're probably right, which means I'll either drive it less now or use the F30 seats when I do drive her :roflol:

Some more updates.

Decided to respray the front grills. And to clean the engine bay.

Naturally on to some pics. (pics courtesy to the sucky BB that still haunts me)

Engine bay before

And the reason why I wanted to respray the grills

Stripping (very time consuming and tedious to not scratch or break anything)

Prepping

Also Rick provided me with original new stickers for the engine bay. These 2 have seen better days so I decided to fit them while cleaning the engine bay.

The rest of the stickers still look ok so will leave those for now.

Progress with the new Matt black paint

Kidneys reinserted

Fitted

Some after pics of the engine bay in the dark but I'll have to take some in the daylight to get maximum effect

Going for a drive and enjoy her :)
