I locked my keys in my boot yesterday......those that have will know that sick feeling you get when you realize you've done it.....thankfully I had a spare, which was not too far away....

pray it never happens to me, I do not have a spare key

Best you get a spare, it happens so easily...then you would need a locksmith....and they are not shy to charge....

I did it to a rental car while in the UK. Car was in a pub parking lot in Manchester, all spare keys kept at Heathrow and rental company was going to charge us 1000 pounds if we broke in with a locksmith. Took 2 days before the spare arrived...

Did it in my E30. Was going to the beach and put my stuff in the car and only took a towel. Locked the car, came back later and realised I had closed the boot with my keys inside, cellphone in the car, nowhere near home, no spare, on New Year's Day. It was a great day! :)

Glad you got sorted quickly.

Locking/losing keys is the most stressful thing that could happen...

I remember, last year sometime, i used my wifes Mini Cooper to work and as everyday, i left the key on the right corner of my office desk. At lunch time, the key was not in that spot or anywhere to be seen. Car was parked off for a week while insurance completed the claim and then sent to mechanic for another week to change lock sets and ignition. (We didnt have a spare). R11 000 later (R1000 excess for me) we had the car back with a pair of keys. Now, the keys get locked in my draw at the office.

But, nothing beats the "i locked my keys in the car" story from Firi@TheFanatics...

Happend to me once, locked the key in the boot, then the boot just popped open on its own.
i have the keyless entry, not sure if the bumper sensor worked (miracle cos it hardly works) , or if the car sensed the key was locked in the boot and opened.

Unless it was God. :)

My wife did this with my e90.

She worked at the Radisson in Sandton and realized she locked the keys in the boot.

Luckily BMW Sandton are down stairs and she asked then to help.

Two techs were sent up, they opened the boot by getting access to a harness at the rear of the boot by lift up the boot at the rear or something, and then popped the boot open
