Just viewed the dakar gspec I mentioned earlier. Sorry for no pics. Seemed mech sound wit a spotless engine bay. However interior was a bit tatty wit seats cracked and scuffed. Rear window seals perished. Evidence of front repair, although chassis legs seemed fine. No service history apart from a recent invoice for clutch replacement. Is this what I can expect for R130k?

It should have some service history:
- this also verifies the mileage.
- let's u know what has been done on the car, and what kind of maintenance to expect.

He should replace those window seals before selling.....

For the asking money, the car needs to be relatively spotless inside and out ...
Bare in mind that the car is now getting on in age so some wear and tear is expected but if you asking for a huge premium over book, then your cars conditon needs to follow suit.

With finance being so hard to obtain for these cars now , most buyers are 'cash' buyers and as per the norm in the car industry, they going to negotiate the price heavily down if they see any of the kind of your comments you mentioned above

Not at the price, too many questions re maintenance plus repairs to the interior. Take his price, deduct your estimated cost to get it to that condition, that's your max. What damage was the repair you mention? What cost to repair it properly, deduct this too. Or look elsewhere.

The seller not willing to budge on his price. Got the vin but not going to bother checking with agents- I doubt car's seen the inside of a dealer workshop in a long time. Too many unknowns concerning repairs and maintenence. Maybe a good car but not R130 k good. There were signs of overspray behind front bumper which did not align perfectly- nothing major. But I'm going to walk away from this.

The e36 3.0l m3 is an excellent car but spares are expensive especially in durbs the guys down here seem to ask 3* the price compared to the guys from jhb and cpt so watch out and do proper checks before handing over your cash :flyfun:

Really clean gspecs are going for really serious money. Almost bordering on 4 piper territory. Maybe I should just sell my 320i and get an e46 m3 as both a weekend toy AND daily drive.

Would love to. But too much dough for a second car. I'm sure u'll get your price eventualy. Only way I can afford it is if I sell my 320. Which means me using a rare gspec as daily driver. E46 newer not as rare.

To anyone interested in a PRISTINE e36 m3 , M3 ZN has a superb example.

Just checked, book trade is R55k for a 93 model. Lol.

No wonder the insurance is so cheap!
Kinda depressing seeing the condition of some Ms for sale. Just wasted my time seeing an e46 m that was on gumtree. Seriously neglected! People just want to pass their problems on to some one else. Word of advice for these sellers- Please keep records of work done(receipts).

Ah well, if u want a decent M, u got to PAY. No bargains here. I mean for a pristine e36 u looking at R160 k minimum. E46 even at R200k are dicey. Hell, I saw one for R220 k that had been in an accident according to BMW.
I noticed Z4 s going for reasonable prices(R140k- R160k) Actualy, going to view one tommorow!
Sorry M fans:fencelook:
