The General's F13 640d MSport

Just got the call that my EGR cooler has arrived. Dreading this now as I’m one of those customers who doesn’t have the expertise to check the work in the same way General does…
I understand.
My advice here would be, if the vehicle is going to JSN?
Request to speak to Freddie, who is the Foreman, or let the Service advisor make a NB note, state that you want a senior technician allocated to the vehicle for the job, and you want the vehicle comprehensively tested before hand over, i would also advise if they want to keep the car overnight to ensure the job is not rushed, then let them.

Pop off the engine cover the night before the booking, take a photo of the front of the motor if you want, take note of bolts etc so that everything is in place, and keep that in mind for when you collect to make sure everything has been returned to its rightful place after the job has been done.

Also remember, this job carries their warranty on labor and parts, so they have to correct whatever mess up. and just dont take no for answer if any issues arise, its their job to ensure its done correctly.

It’s going to ABM, so will ask Vashen to keep an eye and make sure it’s not a mess.

I’ve dealt a lot with Viz at JSN over the years, and must admit I’m surprised this kind of stuff happens on his watch, especially the 2nd time.

Ok cool yea, tell Vashen then that you wat a senior technician allocated and not some intern. im sure he will watch closely for you.

Yea ive dealt with Viz plenty also, and was also surprised, so just means i will pay an even closer eye on my car when it goes to the dealer for anything in the future again

Right, final update.
The car was collected yesterday afternoon, spoke to Freddie and Viz, and the issue was a small plastic pipe going from the EGR cooler, to the Block, about 3cm long, there is an integrated O-Ring on either end, so when it was push in, it pinched the O-Ring and this was the source of the leak, so everything was stripped, new pipe ordered, and everything refitted. Its amazing how quickly they can get a job done when they have to.

I requested full adaptions to the ECU be done, which was carried out, and the car is driving fine, no weird noises or smells.
I checked the Coolant level this morning and it was spot on, so safe to say I'm a happy camper again, I will monitor things for a few days as normal anyways, but so far so good.
