Congrats bud! This car is such a beast and felt amazing to drive. The sound this car makes is unreal for a Diesel! from the interior when we went for a spirited drive that night it honestly has a bit of a V8 sound to it. The torque is intoxicating!

IIRC these have Active Sound Design so probably contibutes to the V8-esque notes inside.

Congrats bud! Beautiful vehicle. Wish you many many happy kms!

Once settled in would love to know how the power feels in comparison to your 335i when stock? Considerably more torque but also a bigger vehicle.
Thanks bud,
In terms of the driving, the ZF8 transmission is such a pleasure to have, i would say its on par with a DCT, it is butter smooth, and in sport mode, it shifts pretty much as quick as a DCT, @osiris can confirm this as he drove it too.

The torque is amazing, stock power is 230kw and 650nm at the Flywheel, so i would like to do a base Dyno to see where i am, this will also tell me th health of the car and any possible issue (boost leaks etc)
Comparing this to the 335i, well, its 2 different drives.
The comfort:
The 6er takes it hands down, its meant as a grand tourer and is as luxurious as it gets unless you in a 7 series. the seats are like clouds, the seating position is comfortable and with the HUD, you just keep your head up and drive. the car does the rest. Comfort mode is more than enough for daily use, i have not yet tried Eco-Mode in all honesty, and highly doubt i will use it, will try it and make the informed decision later on.

Sport/Sport+ is intoxicating, the gear changes are hard and precise, pretty much the same as the DCT. i couldnt be happier in this aspect.

Even when i owned the 335i, having it fully modified i would spend most of the time in the seat just cruising and enjoying the car in a sedated manner, with the very odd ocassion flooring it and being a hoon.
In the 6er, its the same, it feels solid and enjoyable just cruising around town, with the knowledge i have the power to plant for an overtake maneuver.

Love it! 6ers are a special (and under appreciated) sight
This is true, i have very very rarely seen another 6er on the road, and strangely saw one yesterday on the way home, a Silver 650i, the old man in the car looked over with a smile on his face seeing mine. so definitely think all 6 Series owners have that pride when they eventually see another being driven.

Congrats man, knowing your history and fiddling, this could turn out to be interesting reading in the coming months :)
Thanks Gav, ill be sure to detail the best i can. fair few things i want to do, power mods are the last on the list.
currently my list is as follows:
Update Nav - Done
Tint windows
Rear Spoiler - Gloss Black
Front lip if i can find one
Maybe Gloss black Grills, but not sure yet.
Coding

So all in due time and as things fall into place.

I already decoded my VIN, and mine does not have the ASD spec'd as an option. and its not in my iDrive menu options either.

Doesn't show up in the options: you will see it listed as a module in E-sys or other diagnostics programs if you have it. There are no settings to turn it on and off in iDrive - you can code it on or off with E-sys.

Yeah bud, get Carly and te adapter and you can play with or alternatively Bimmercode etc. The ASD are in the module e-sys items as Llew said. Actually make a massive difference, switch it totally off and then get the real engine feedback however the other notes do add some entertainment :)

Congrats!
I still think this is one of the best looking Bmw's.
How is your consumption so far? Just curious as my father has a X5 40d, So curious what difference the slight weight difference makes.

Any plans to remap it?

Thanks man, i have Protool and received my MHD Adaptor over the weekend, ive since done a little bit of coding, including changing the ASD from the S55 engine sound, to the S63B44 engine sound :D its quite the dfference i must be honest, pretty throaty lol, its a gimmick, but im a sucker for gimmicks, hahahahaha.

Congrats!

well im pretty interested now on your feedback on the X5 40d consumption too.
The 640d is not as light as the specs indicate it to be, truth be told, the car does need a Carbon Clean, Intake manifold Clean and EGR system clean, so i believe this would make a big difference to the Fuel Consumption.
I drive mainly around town and do about 600km to the tank, reasonably heavy if you ask me, but the online synopsis according to other drivers internationally indicate the same economy. I feel the car is holding back, and when i take my foot off the gas, the engine slows down ALOT, the engine braking is immense. took me by surprise, im still learning the car and the engine, but this MIGHT (i stand to be corrected) be indicative of a choked up intake/egr system. this is what logic tells me, so im hoping once i send it in for a Carbon Clean and Intake clean that it will make a considerable difference. th car has 126 500km on the clock, and i dont think its been cleaned internally. once dne, it should free up some economy.

Mods:
I am planning some mods, but i want to make sure the maintenance aspect is sorted long before i begin with mods.
Ill be adopting the same approach that @osiris and i have taken on hi car, and my old E92 335i, make sure its running correctly on its own stock setup, before applying mods.

But, the plan is as follows:
Intercooler
EGR Delete (Maybe, depends on the current state of the setup)
Swirl Flap delete
Software

Im not planning to go all out and try extract every last bit of KW from the car, so a mild Stg2 will be more than sufficient, should put me at about 800nm which is fine, literally :D but im in no rush, and will make sure i keep you all updated.

As a small update, we did not take many photos sadly, but i got a spare left side headlight as the original light was in bad condition due to the accident the car was previously in, and was just repaired rather than replaced.
I had quite the mission with BMW Sandton to try replace the headlight, but they said due to it being operational, they cant replace it, no matter the actual condition of the unit.
Anyways, with @osiris help, we stripped he front end an got to work

New light

New Light in.

Excuse the crappy images, i did Video Capture as i didnt take any photos, just a video, lol
Due to the accident knowledge, we expected the worst when removing the bumper, but in honesty, its in pretty good shape, no leaks on the underside of the motor, dry as a bone.
There is a few items tat need attention, and need replacement screws due to many missing, but, this is a work in progress, and she will get to my desired goal in time.

Thanks to @osiris for always keen to lend a hand.

Congrats Bud! What a beaut.

To me, the E92 and the F13 are the best looking BMW's ever made and you had them both, NICE!!!!

Will you be doing those cleans yourself or sending it to a mechanic?

Have to agree with you, i loved my E92 335i, it was a clean example, i poured time, money and lots of effort into the car to get it to the condition it was, sad to have sold her, but the sale afforded me the opportunity to buy the F13.

With regards to the cleaning, the main cleaning will be done by Carbon Doctor (Marchand), as he did my e92 on each occasion i need the carbon clean done.
I am planning to take out the EGR valve and give it a clean this weekend, so will see how its all going when it comes out, im expecting it to be filthy, it will also give me an opportunity to put my Borescope into the EGR Cooler to see the state of it.

Are you giving it a clean temporarily until you do the delete?
Post some pics of the EGR valve when and if you can, quite curious to see the state of it with the mileage.

Thanks for the referral, I will give carbon doctor a call. I think my car might need a clean as well :ROFLMAO:

Yes, the EGR Valve is easily accessible and no major items need to be removed to get to it, so its a simple procedure to clean.
The Intake Valves, Inlet Mani area are a different beast, and id prefer it get done the correct way and professionally.

I will load pics of the Valve as soon as its done and cleaned, im as interested in the condition as you are.

Yes Marchand is great, and very knowledgeable. He is based in the Fourways area.

Best way to do it, get the car perfect mechanically to the point where you never worry about breaking down no matter how far you drive the car and then introduce one mod at a time.

Modding a car that needs maintenance is just something I don't understand and yet so many people do it.

The car was in allot better shape than we anticipated before taking that bumper off at least, she will be in show room condition in no time.

Small update.

A while back i had someone from Bimmergeeks assist with a communications issue on my ZGW (Central GateWay module). kept getting an error that it could not be initialized, so the guys at Bimmergeeks offered to assist and logged on remotely from Atlanta, and corrected the issue via ISTA+.

Have some errors still on the EGR, but its not effecting driving, and my DPF Regen is still operating and decreasing the soot levels accordingly.

Fr the meantime, i contacted @FiRi@Rennzport for some gloss black Dual Slat kidney grills, and needless to say, im very please with the result at what a small item can do to the front end.

Excuse the state of the garage, its a work in progress also :D

Top priority for me is the Carbon Clean and Intake system clean, which hopefully will be end of this month, but with it not being an absolute urgency, i can take some time. may just do the EGR Delete and get it done along with the Downpipe and software all same time, if i can do this shortly after the Carbon Clean and Intake clean, then its keeps things clean in the intake tract for alot longer.

Some nice to haves which i would like to do in the future:
LED Headlight upgrade (PreLCi or LCi, will see how i feel (Or rather my wallet haha)
New wheels, leaning toward a set of CS style rims.
Both of the above are long term items, especially the headlights, as this will be a very costly affair, but will see what time brings me, :D

Thanks guys
