Good Lord I can't stand any movie he is in, it's 1 thing exaggerating an individuals abilities to enhance the movie, it's quite another thing watching a 1 legged man jump off a crane from 1 building to another(skyscraper)

I don't have anything against the Rock as a human being. As an actor though: he doesn't play different characters... he just has the one character that he plays in every movie... just with a different name. He even does the same things and says the same things in different movies.

I was wondering who the villain in this movie was going to be played by @MR_Y . I couldn't see anything in the trailer... just a voice! LOL

Ho far have you come since 2001, and how far have your life changed? That goes for everyone in here.

In 2001 I only had 1 child, having just purchased my first house. I was driving a Toyota Corolla 1800Gle, that was promptly replaced with a Honda V-tec after watching the movie, and modified accordingly. I was a scrawny kid still learning how to enjoy life while being a responsible husband and father. I was already working a spietkop, but still had no idea of all the different sections in my work environment. I still had an older brother, and a father, and a grandmother, not to mention all the friends and work members that have since passed on. I could fill my fuel tank for R50, and could drive anywhere in SA without paying E-toll. My wife was a stay home mom. The shop on the corner was still a shop, and not a mall like it is now.

As everything evolved in my life, so the movie franchises evolved. CGI got better, cars got better, but I do agree that the new movies have gone a bit crooked in the story lines.

I love all the movies, love the cast and the dynamics and interactions between everyone, and the quirky humor. Love the cars.

I know that science and reality contradicts allot of what happens in these movies, but let's remember that these movies are made for entertainment, and is not a documentary following real peoples lives.

I can't wait for F&F9, to see it, and to add it to my collection. My wife as well, can't wait, and I was already instructed to build another cabinet to house all her F&F memorabilia, going from Diecast to clothing.

Interesting take. Good read.

But I haven't changed or come so far from driving an E46, to launching into space since 2001 lol

They have become super predictable and over the top, but there is a massive market that loves it.

Ill watch it one day, eventually, on my couch with my phone in my hand going through real car pages and videos.

When you’re having a barbecue (braai) in a backyard with a wooden bench, you belong to the Fast n’ Furious familia…

My eldest daughter took me out the Friday it came out to watch it and we both enjoyed it. Was always a favorite past time for my kids and I to sit and watch these. Yes they lost reality but 10 is actually better than 9. Good entertainment though.

I watched Fast 10, because I had to watch something while other family members watched Little Mermaid.

It started off really well, by linking to Fast 5 (the best in the series in my view), built up some good suspense and action in the first few scenes. The Rome scene was also good - as expected, since the director also did the first two Transporter movies.

But, once Dom hits a crane with his car to defect a rolling bomb, then it all goes downhill for me from there.

I ended up playing with my phone for the rest of the movie. Maybe I am too old or I have a different taste in action movies, but I ended up reading Daily Maverick articles on my phone while in the cinema and occasionally watched the rest of the movie.

Anyway, Fast 5 is still the best in the series for me. Fast 10 is bad and made worse by the long run time. If they cut it to 90 mins and made Jason Maoma less annoying (his character is one of the most annoying ever in an action movie) then it may have worked better for me.

However, I do understand the appeal that these later movies have with most people. Some of my best friends are F&F fans. It is a fun ride for some people, in the same way that Bollywood action movies are simple, family friendly fun.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the next Mission Impossible, which focuses more on real stunts, better story with only some CGI.
