Thanks to all of you for your messages. Appreciate it gents. I don't plan on doing any Mods on this. I have the m3 for that. This is just for cruising.

Good luck sir. I had a friend who owned one, it was more unreliable than his Griffith, in fact i had 3 friends who owned C32's they all ended up selling them due to the major reliability issues. Nothing mechanical just constant and never endinging Delphi electronics failing.

Headlights were especially prone to failing, thank goodness a good indy and retrofit a F/L headlight assembly with some careful soldering. Oh wait i see they have already failed and were swapped to a F/L non xenon setup. YOu can see the car was supposed to be fitted with Xenons as there is a headlamp washer and no beam adjustment switch.

Next on the list of failures will be the transmission plug, it will leak into the harnass and cook the ECU, please have it inspected again any decent benz indy knows about this issue, if they don't find someone else to work on it. Then you have the Radiator cores that split and spill Water into the ATF....cooking the transmission.

But all in a lovely car with wonderful highway ability.
My heart sank after reading this. Thanks for the heads up. I have a W203 c200 which was a hand me down since 2010. We've owned the car since 2002 new. Thus far its been reliable. I'm assuming the electronics are the same?

I'll need to have the list of issues checked out asap. I hope I haven't gotten myself into some serious problems... Thanks again.

Great Car, if you need a good passionate Indy, search for MercCare, Christo's knowledge and passion for the Brand is excellent and unchallenged.
Appreciate this. I'll call them asap!

For some Reason the problems were mainly limited to the C32, not the SLK32 or the rest of the range. It was just very poor QC on the entire car 02's were the worst and it improved with time. The Transmission is your biggest concern if a Valeo radiatorsator you have a ticking timebomb.

One thing that was a given to go at some point was the CPS, but that's no biggie, can leave you stranded though somewhere. Electronics on the one I had for years never had an issue. Guess it's luck if the draw on what you get. But yeah have a look and see if your radiator has been changed out. That was a shit one getting water in your transmission, think that was more of an earlier production problem which being an '02 yours would fit in that.

Bud, saw this on Gumtree and wondered why you are selling so soon..?

This thread went from excitement to panic real quick for me.

I've pretty much lost the enthusiasm of owning this car now. Everytime I drive it I'm in a panic wondering if shit is gonna go down.

I've contacted Christo as Justin advised to have the car checked next week.

If he says all looks good I'll keep her. If not I'll have no choice but to take a knock and let her go.

Don't get scared off so quickly. Yes, it will have some bills, but if it's reached this point in its life, it's probably not going to just explode on you. Check the maintenance basics and enjoy it.

After a long chat with Kev I have a clearer mind and plan to make a decision on this car. Kev is an asset to have as a fellow forum member. I really appreciate your time bud.

I had three friends who owned this cars , all 2005 though , my one friend traded his on a c55 and instantly had this car drop him with cooling issues , others had no problems , and when we pulled the c55 against the owners  fathers c32 , the c32 pulled ahead just over two car lengths up to about 140 , this very same c55 would sit about a car length  on the very top behind an excede tuned e46m3. The c55 also had software , exhaust , etc . Was a time the bearings and chassis tearing scared me from purchasing a e46m3 , then I also considered one of these Mercedes amg's , glad I decided to take the M , mind you the one c32 was offered to me at a very good price with about 330 000 k's on the clock, that one always was well looked after with new supercharger some years ago .
still a bargain if compared to equivelant M cars.
