The "Chef" was in the shop

Sire ChefDJ popped in for a visit for some balancing and alignment, and to investigate underneath the car whilst it was on the lift for some minor "niggling" issues.........

however once the rear wheels were removed it was evident that this was going to be a "little" bit more........the rear tyres were wearing off badly on the inside edge, one of them was down to canvas already, and to think that one is driving unknowingly like this day-in-day-out.........just waiting for the inevitable blow-out

sorry that it cost you a bit more than you were expecting today, but we did give you a special price on those FALKEN 912's

see you soon for a FREE check-up on the suspension components to determine if anything is a bit lose, so that you don't run down those new tyres again.

I cannot wait to see your thread about where the oil seepage could be coming from ?

:thumbs::thumbs: Speedway!

Always super frustrating when a set of perfectly good tires has to go to waste! This is why I'll never go near TWT again :fencelook:

Ralf, I can't extend my gratitude for all the help and hospitality you offered me today any further. And thanks to Team Speedway as well! Very clued up bunch of guys you have there.

As Ralf mentioned, I had to replace my rear tyres due to wear on the inside edge. The wear was pretty bad, and I'm lucky I never had a blow-out at any stage while driving.

Ralf offered me brilliant prices for a set of Falkens, which I simply couldn't afford to refuse. I was literally shocked by the state of my tyres.

Had the new tyres fitted while I fought with the vending machine for my cold drink :roflol:

Had alignment and balancing done, and will see Ralf again next week Friday again, for a full check up on my suspension, to see how we can eliminate the new tyres from being worn so quickly on the inside.

Fell in love with a big old Ford that popped by:

Again, thanks Ralf and team for all the effort, hospitality and professional assistance.

Much appreciated, and will always be back for more :thumbs:

:bravo::bravo: Ralf and his team!!

Chef, I believe that tyres wearing on the inside, are symptoms of worn rear ball joints ....

Rear ball joints are the issue there.
Change both sides
Do not buy TOPRAN and try and get hold of FEBI or MAYLE.

Best you get the man with the tools to do as it is not an easy job without the proper tools.
Even with the proper tools it is a job that will teach you many new and saucy words

he is coming back to us next friday, and then we are going pull-&-tug-&-shove everywhere to look for any apparent motion, and will advice him of the repairs required and the costs and the downtime...

thanks for the heads-up on the "rear ball joints", will ask my suspension fitter to pay extra scrutiny to these items.

My fiance's uncle has recently imported a black Ford fairlane gt500, only one in the country apparently. He is a ford nut and owns around 7 ranging from the 50's to the 60's mostly fairlanes but also a red 68 mustang fastback.

Good work Ralf...

What were the alignment measurements like before adjusting...it looks like a bad toe adjustment together with very aggressive camber... The patchy part could've a worn shock or bush...
