Family sedans - the revered, and arguably the most popular vehicle market segment since forever.
The F30 - BMW's much coveted 3 Series, also BMW's foray into the family sedan segment and very popular. Also, South Africa's most popular luxury sedan.
Personally, I've always had a soft spot for the F30, however it's a dime a dozen car. You see them everywhere. You also see them being cared for in a range of ways that gets me cringing. In my quest for F30 individuality, it simply began with getting my car's paint looking better than most F30s on the road...
I hadn't looked very in-depth at my car when I got it. Topically it looked fine, and I never really gave it a great look in the sun. What I witnessed when I washed the car on Saturday had me in various states of shock and awe:
Holograms
Swirls
Swirled holograms :bluecry:
My car was obviously the victim of a botched polish then. The holograms were everywhere. Improper wash procedures also ensured that the swirls had a good look too. I had to get it looking better because after less than a week with a black car, I cannot deal with how quickly this car gets dirty. Not to worry, I know a Detailer
Off I went to gather a few odds and ends on short notice. I found myself at Pravin, needless to say he hooked me up with some product to try:
- CQuartz UK silica Nano coat
- Car Pro Iron X
- Car Pro Tar X
The Iron X:
This stuff knocked me for Six!!! I've used many different iron decontaminants and this is the first to react in seconds. The picture above was taken after a swell time of around 10 seconds. This stuff works well!!!
Tar X:
Smells lovely. Works like a bomb. I had some white spots which appeared on the car overnight, after it had been polished. Went over with some clay, nothing. Polished and still nothing. Last resort, glue and tar remover - Tar X stripped off that stuff like it was nothing. All I have is good things to say about the Car Pro range. My experience thus far has been more than pleasant.
CQuartz:
This stuff is great. The look is perfect, not as tricky as some Nano coats to work with and really is a treat to use once you get going. Also, I used about 10ml for the entire car, meaning you can probably get three coats out, provided you have your technique down and application right.
I also used:
- Scholl S20 black
- Gyeon Q2M Leather
- Gyeon Prep
- Shield SP9 Trim Cleaner (special mention - Pravin I believe you now, it works!!)
- Valet Pro Black to the Future
- G Techniq G4 Glass polish
- G Techniq G5 Water Repellent
In process:
50/50
Exhaust tip before and after
Another one. DJ Khaled.
So with all polishing done, nano coat applied and refining out the way, I was left with this:
I'm happy though I cannot wait to throw water at the car and watch the nano coat in action - stay tuned for the videos
Huge shout outs:
- Lance, Shezaad, Newton and the rest of the CCT team for the help and effort
- Pravin for hooking me up with the pre-launch goodies
- BMWFanatics for the support
- You for reading :ty:
