There will always be hype if people are hyping it up, no matter what the reasons are. Especially now with internet:nonono:

This might sound a bit girly, but I collect shoes, basketball shoes to be exact, and you guys should see some of the forums, is disgusting:yuck:

For example, on December 23rd or 24th of 2011, Michael Jordan the brand decide to launch the retro Jordan XI black/white concord. Is the most thought after shoes ever by Jordan brand. And I'm seeing the news people waited in lines hours/days before the release of the shoes outside of malls(some in the winter snow), and some even got shot/killed over the shoes:argh:

Same with the 1M, is a beautiful car, but is it worth the 200k-300k mark up people are putting up? Me personally, NO. Is a car!!! It will depreciate faster than you can say 'darn it'...

My wife litterally drooles when she sees the orange colored 1M at the Pietersburg dealership. It now belongs to the Dealer Principal! She makes me drive past the showroom every week when she and I go RS and GTi-R hunting with HER E46 M3!!!

What makes me a bit sad though is that the RS3 would kick the 1M's butt in a standstill-100km/h sprint. Why not a few DCT's or even an all wheel drive 1M to be used in a sprint test and to kick the Audi's ass?!

If you diced the RS3 from standstill, and you stop at the next robot only after the RS3 and say, common let's do a rolling start and see what happens, that windgat RS pilot will laugh in ya face, "bad loser, I kicked your 1M's butt blue!"

Don't come with "its a M, or it's better in many other respects. If my lovey picks a dice with a RS, she wants to show hom heels! I think a good launch control hooked up on a DCT should do the job, but sadly, a young black up and comming business lady in a RS3 who only knows where the accelerator and petrolcap lever are, will kick even the Stig's gat in a 1M in a straight robot drag:yuck:

The other thing that steals my joy, the base price of the 1M is R546k, but every parra ordering one, adds a shithouse full of unnecessary accessories, which has got nothing to do with performance and drivability! It only increase the flippen price of an actually very affordable collectable M car!?

I really hope that good seconhand 1M's will become available at prices that would exclude any accessories added and that those first owners will kick themselves for adding unnecessary price increasing add-ons to these nice cars

those jap crap 4wd things are so underrr-engineered for the sake of "lightness". Sounds like a tin can when you close the door.

All the time i had them, i kept telling meself " my M3 was better, my M3 never broke like this, or used so much juice." 45L = 380km... WTF ? My M5 is lighter.

the 4wd did however "cover up" for ID10T driving errors and let drivers get away with things that a RWD will have u crapping your rods in mid corner for.

And as P Smit points out abovr, any nimken-poop can pull-off a gr8 launch with a 4wd, but for whole long?

Cant speak for German 4wd systems, but i can tell u, keep launching a jap 4wd, and it will break. (SUb, EVO and GTR35)

Rwd simply spin the extra power out

and why the 1M is only RWD , is because its a driver's car. It munches an RS3 around the track.
4wd can only handle so much, before it starts to understeer, and that's where RWD takes over by steering with the throttle.

I absolutely adore the 1M, i got goose bumps and shivers up my spine when i seen it in person. When they reviewed the car on Top Gear i WOW'd all the way. In my opinion it captures a glimpse of what BMW ///Magic is all about, sort of like the magic of the E30's! :inlove:

cant help feeling it would have been better with the V8 under the bonnet... with its short wheelbase its already twitchy and add turbos and its harder to correct because of throttle repose... this car will be a widow maker...

So the 1M has 500 km's on and a S3, RS3 and yes wait a RS5 in one afternoon on the N1 know its a 1M as they stopped me to look at the car after i gave them all a hiding, well not the RS5 so much as this wagon peddles fast. Had a good chat to the guys and all were very interested in the lil M.

Car 2011 shootout go read it it is very interesting. And by the way the RS3 is 4 seconds and more slower per LAP around Kyalami.....oooops i really think that 4wd must weigh a ton!:rollsmile: Oh and also all the between gear thingys and top end and mid range BUT the RS3 does put some blinders on the pull away but then easilly gets caught again and again and so on.....:fencelook:And you cant take it to track school.

Jokes aside this is not a M3 this is a force fed go kart with nitro methane. Fast yes very and as agile and nimble with a turn in angle like a mower around a golf course. Driver feedback is exeptional as any M would have it and the controls are magnificently placed around the driver. The power is awesome but the brakes and how the car composes itself around corners and under hard breaking is crazy. Does not have all the luxury like my M3 V8 but its awesome to play with and i cant wait for track daze to see what time this lil M can do. Will let you guys know as soon as the first 2000km's are up and car is serviced M style. Then pipe and some more intelligent power.:joy:
