That dreaded 10pm call

So, on Wednesday evening I receive a call @ +-10pm from a friend...

"Ive just written off my car, Im next to a informal settlement, can you please come get me?"

Luckily everyone was okay, upon arriving on the accident scene I inspect the cars involved, and come to the conclusion that both cars are written off.

The accident: My friend was working on a deadline project in the east, and left work at around 9pm traveling north on the N3 back to Sandton. The road was wet, and visibility was poor, and some fool was driving on the shoulder of the fast lane @ 40km/h (2 wheels on the highway, 2 wheels on the gravel). With visibility being low my friend didnt see him in time, and because he was driving so slow in the fast lane there was no hope to brake in time. He swerved, but alas, it was also too late.

Its a pity that the BMW was written off, apart from some "airbag rash" he is completely fine. Note the structural integrity of the Peugeot vs the BMW

Be careful out there people, you really get some idiot drivers!

Fuck. I'm glad your friend is okay. And good on you for being willing to go out and help.

That French thing doesn't look too good...

I did what I could. Although he was in a bit of shock, he immediately sent me his Whatsapp location, and from there on it was easy to find him via GPS

quite an impact for both cars moving in the same direction. Curious to know whether they do in fact write the BM off though

Phew, glad your friens is ok. The car can be replaced.
Why on earth would you drive at 40km/h on the shoulder of the fast lane? :YesNo:

You right, too many idiots on the roads.

Tman, sorry to hear about your smash. Always adhere to this simple rule of the road during night time or adverse weather driving conditions, always adapt your vehicle's speed according to your range of vision.

Unfortunately, the current motor law applied in SA, will regard you as the primarily negligent party in this collision. I really hope your car is insured bud!!

These Flippen F**kers that do that, I witnessed a similar accident on a clear night on the N12 just past Boksburg, I was a little distance behind a vehicle when all of a sudden he hits something, I was able to swerve to the left and miss everything, same situation so Poephole driving slowly half on half off the fast lane!!! I don't understand why people do this!!!

JMPD are also to blame, when they get off the highway to park in the centre to set up their traps, I've had to slam on brakes cause of one slowing down to a crawl to get off, no blue lights nothing!!

And the worst Poepholes are the ones that reverse on the highway!! The worst I've seen was heading north just past Alberante BMW where it splits, on a Sunday morning at 5:30, this Poephole missed his turnoff so in the Middle bloody lane he decides to reverse!! I've never seen such stupidity in my life!!!

Anyway Rant over and I hope your friends sorts that Peophole out and is able to get his F30 fixed or a brand new one!! I bet you the other driver isn't even insured!!

100% right, and insurance already confirmed. My friend is the guilty party, although he doesn't really agree. But in the end at least there is insurance

Glad your friend is ok.

Sad part is that this sort is driving has become a norm on the road.

No one gives a sh*t!
