Ask for epad if worried about dust

I'm not worried about it because i will change to a track setup once these are shot. i was just posting that they make lots of dust for the people who dont get a chance to wash their cars often.

do the TEXTAR pads produce lots of dust , because a mechanic friend also told me that these pads produce excessive dust , I got a set that I want to fit this weekend on my e36 M , now having doubts about this.

Textar pads do produce a lot of brake dust.

I’m going for Meyle when my pads are done - have had good experience with them.

Metelli :=):

Pads that make dust mean they work and there is lots of contact between the pad and disc.

Pads that don't make dust mean they are a hard compound and not as much stopping power.

Meyle still makes dust (luckily not as much as Textar) and they do seem to brake quite well without any noise.

I’ll definitely try Metelli as some stage as well.

Does anyone actually import the textar epads? I can't find anyone who supplies them, only the 'normal' ones.

AFAIK they don’t do Textar, so will prob give you Meyle or something similar.

My Only gripe with them is they make a crazy amount of brake dust.
I isntalled Textar at the front, and Ate at the rear on the same day.

The Textar's produce a crazy amount of dust.
They do brake well, and don't squeak.

Will definitely fit Ate all round next time.

I have heard the exact same thing, but have only used textar pads on my e90...cant really complain with the brake dust (but its definitely not excessive)...Could be down to driving style and the fact that i tend to wash my car every weekend nor do i do much mileage in between washes (around 300 kms a week) :tiptoe:

I can also note that they brake quite well, and never experienced any squeaks:thumbs:

I hand wash my Car every Saturday, so that's how i know to gauge brake dust build up.

I had Ate's before at the front, and they produced a lot less dust. and i drive the exact same distance and same driving style every week, so it allows to get a real idea of what works best.

I enjoy these threads, really informative and helpful

Nice to know what we should be paying, and what works best

I Bought front and rear brakes from them for my 320d from them last week. They told me they had textar fronts and meyle for the rear but delivered Febi Bilsteins for the front. When queried about the textar they said that the system said they had stock but they had nothing in their warehouse.

Hi guys, sorry to revive an old thread but my F30 320d is due for front pads and wanted to know besides Torre Parts are there any other companies I can try in Durban for Textar pads?

The Durban distribution centre does not have stock and I want to fit them this weekend.

Thanks in advance

I had texted on mine, and they made lots of dust and squealed a lot too.

I have removed them and fitted Brembo pads on my 135 instead.

Still have the set of textar pads if you want them. They have plenty life on them.

You are obviously happier on Brembo ? who stocks them ?

Go OE (ie BMW parts) as forum members generally get decent discounts.

I have Textar, I paid a dirt cheap price as they were moving from City Deep (I think I paid R450 for front pads). They do squeal sometimes unexpected..., I don’t mind the dust as it shows they are not “eating into the disc”.

I'm also looking for E46 330i fronts and based on this thread I decided to give the local dealer a call. I was quoted R 1,450.00 for a set of pads and they couldn't tell me the make/brand. They can only see the part number... So the search continues.
