Hello Members...
I guess as some of you would have seen and heard through various social media platforms the Rennzport team represented at the KZN drag racing event held at Dezzi raceway. Before I get into the results I must state the ffg, this was an event overseen by MSA with Wally Papas personally being present. The timing was supplied and managed by Truvelo timing equipment and the track has been certified by MSA to meet their standards.
The 3 cars we had entered comprised of a good variety, a manual 1M coupe, a sport auto F21 M135 coupe and my car, an E92 335i coupe in DCT guise. Our prep for the event was minimal and intermittent because of personal commitments prior to the event for each of us, this is before the event was delayed twice due to the poor weather prospects.
Overall it was a hard days racing, the sun burn and heat got the most out of us and the little sleep didn't help. However as hard as it was, it definitely was our best days racing yet! Now comes the claim to the records...
Firstly, anyone who has piloted a manual BMW will attest to it being sheer driving pleasure, but that pleasure is hard fought when you have to measure it against the clock. Icechilli 3 stepped his was to a mind-blowing 11.8 seconds ET @ 205 kmh... we are proud to call him the fastest 1m in SA, the fastest E series manual in SA, the fastest N54 manual in SA! All accomplished with a slipping stg 3 clutch and limited tuning on his set up...
Secondly the M135 piloted by Feroze, He first managed a best time of 11.9 seconds during the course of the day and then managed to smash that down to an impressive time of 11.7 seconds! it certainly is the fastest F20/F21 M135 in SA and a current WR as well! #slowcarproblems
Bringing up the rear was myself, at least that's how I felt for the better half of the morning, having an aborted first run of 16sec which ruffled my feathers and then a wrong time of 14.x instead of 12.01 announced by the commentator for the second run which didn't help, it seems that hope only arrived on the horizon on my third run where I completed a 11.88 sec pass beating my previous time. Refocused the next two runs were dispatched at 11.63 sec and then followed up by a 11.516 pass to end the day on... I guess that's the fastest n54/n55/x35 package in SA...
As usual I cannot stress enough that our Victory is because of the strength of our team, both on the day and behind the scenes there were numerous people who made an effort to make sure we did our best. To Preshen and Sanesh who tirelessly worked the pit area in the sweltering heat, hats off to you! To Prevan for helping with emergency parts the night before, You deserve a Jameson brother.. To my fellow drivers, Feroze and Duran, well done boys! And lastly to the people behind the scenes at Team Rennzport... Thank you for the support!
