Not too sure about the E90 engines, although I believe only post 2009 engines were rid of the swirl flaps

strange thing is i cant seem to find the swirl flaps on my 2006 e90 when using real oem though

You cannot see it from the images (swirl flaps are not a separate part, they are part of the intake manifold), but if you look at item one:

P1000, you have a great deal of knowledge

Would you suggest removing the EGR and replacing with a blank, or cleaning it out nicely and replacing it?

I want to do this when I do the swirl flaps...

Thanks,

If you can get a proper blank, do it. I think Land Rover actually manufactured a blank for their M47 engines. The reason is - sometimes the EGR cooler corrodes through and will then send all your coolant to the intake manifold causing waterlock and a couple of bent conrods (if you are lucky). What I did to mine was to simply remove the vacuum lines and block them off. (Although that does not really protect me from the waterlock situation)

Oh, and if you do find a blank, please post up info of where you got it.

Will definitely post up about it. I intend on doing a DIY thread on the work I want to do.

I read about Land Rover using those engines around 2002, but I have the M57 engine. Would it be the same blanking plate?

do you think there is a legitimate problem with swirl flaps on the E90?From what i find there arent many problems reported considering how many E90 320d's there are on the road worldwide. The most common posts originate from PMW in the UK who coincidentally sell blanking kits...?

I don't think there are many E90's with over 200k km's on the clock :dunno:

I'm concerned about mine because my car has almost 240k km's on...

P1000 - will disabling the EGR via software only protect you from this? Also - whats your thoughts on De-Dpf for the diesels, heard some good stories n bad with regards to turbo failure etc? Thanks

feel free to contact me if you are looking to get those horrid swirl flaps removed...

Will attempt myself :=):

Do you have any advice regarding the EGR perhaps?

Racing Snake, where can I get an EGR blank off? I understand Land Rover produced the ones for this engine... So do I contact a Land Rover sales department or are these things available somewhere else?

And when you say clean, I assume you mean the surrounding parts themselves and not the EGR as the EGR will be removed if replaced with a blank?

I thought landrover produced the one for the 4pot diesel? When I was looking. The landrover one didnt look thhaaaat high quality. There were better aftermarket ones available.
