discussion Suspension sport VS adaptive

Hi all.

What I want to know is from folks that have the adaptive sports suspension on M Perf or M cars - what is it like? Does it give you that 'relief' from the standard sport suspension? I am just thinking about possible future cars - it would be nice to have the option of a more comfortable ride and then sport ride when you want it. The M140i is sport ride all the time 😂🤣

I'm not sure if I am the right person to comment on this, but I'm going to anyways.

I've got my first M Performance car, and I find that the difference across the suspension/damper settings is massive. In Comfort Plus it's nice and soft, absorbs just about everything in it's path (within reason). The Comfort setting is also very relaxed and comfortable (a bit of a double statement there). In Sport, it's not as firm as say a pure M car, but gives me enough feedback to know the car is more attack orientated at the moment in time.

The reason I say I may not be the right person, is, cos, air suspension 🤷‍♀️. What I can tell you definitively is that for the daily drive my setup is far more enjoyable to live with that what I experienced in all my Ms (for obvious reasons)

I feel like I've said a lot without saying anything.

Its not a must but a nice to have.
You can feel the difference between comfort and sport.
I dont know what the replacement costs are on the struts so something to check up on.

I have H&R on mine and have to say that comfort is much needed as sport is really hard.

So to answer your question: YES adaptive does make a decent different.

On the F20 chassis, I had adaptive and i drove 2 cars back to back, one with adaptive and one without. It is night and day... Sport plus is equivalent to a normal F20 M-Sport without it.

To replace a shock for adaptive was around R7500 each from BMW without a discount. I eventually fitted HnR to my car and the adaptive still made a difference, I could daily the car easily and still enjoy a comfy ride and when needed to play around and used the different drive selection, could easily feel the difference.
The F20 chassis is more harsh than all others so the difference is well appreciated.

Thought as much...youre all pretty much saying the same thing...having adaptive suspension is a really nice to have...I'd like to have 😂. I think if I go for another M perf or M car in the future, adaptive suspension will be a must have. Appreciate
