What model is your car...on the E36 you can close it manually. Open up the cover where the lighting is and you can turn the "screw" manually to close the roof

I vaguely recall that you can software reset the older BMs sunroof by holding the switch (in the close position I think) for 20 seconds .... not 100% sure though.

Although, if there is a mechanical problem/block this would not work.

ALL you need to do is initialize your sunroof.

What you do is you get into your car, put your fob in the slot and turn the car ON (ie don't start it - but push the start button with your foot OFF the break/clutch)

Now, push and HOLD the sunroof button up (vent position). After about 15-20 seconds, the sunroof will vent. CONTINUE HOLDING THE BUTTON UP. After anouther couple of seconds, 15 or so (could feel long, but keep holding) , the sunroof will close, the open completely, then close completely.

Once the sunroof has closed completely, the proccess is over. It's important that you do not let go of that button while the proccess is happening.

Warnings might come up on i-drive or the on-board-computer. That is normal during this initialization.

This info was actually given to me by Nawtiboy...

not sure then...the same thing happened with my e90 and that seemed to solve the problem. Did you mke sure the ignition was on? all the lights on dash on-not just the acc mode?

The e90also has the manual overide, unclip the panel cover between the map reading lights, use the allen key in the toolkit and manualy turn it. See the owners manual, there is full instructions.
