Sunroof slide closure

Hey there okes.
Was thinking of this for quite some time and not sure if anyone else has.
On the BMW E90, when the sunroof is in tilt mode, the inside slide does not close all the way like the new model cars. It leaves a bit of the gap compared to when the sunroof is fully closed.

Is there anyway of having the sunroof on tilt with the inside slide fully closed so no sun comes through.

I don't want to try taking off clips and the darn thing breaks

Thanks guys

I also noticed this when your sunroof and slide is fully closed and you press the up button (sunroof) then the sunroof opens that little bit at the back but the slide moves about 10cm back (open). I dont think that you can do anything about this without breaking something

But it would be nice to hear if that is even possible, although I am 90% sure that you cant change it.

What's the point of having the sunroof tilted if the slide is closed? Because then no air can pass through...

The Benz's slide stays closed when the glass is tilted, but the slide has vents to allow air passage.

Ive had 2 1ers and an E90, and on all of them the slide cannot be closed fully.
and I also don't think you can if the SR is tilted.

will be keeping tabs on this thread if it is at all possible.

But it is like Chef said, what is the purpose if the slide is closed, no air will pass or almost no air will pass to the tilted sunroof.

But ya, that sun in the afternoon is bad when you tilt the sunroof to vent hot air and the sun is @#$%% from the top at exactly your hands, legs and the dash, gearlever and steering wheel :thumbdo:

There is a first world solution to this first world problem...

Close the sunroof, and switch on the aircon :blab:

I daily a 1.9 TDI and that aircon runs permanently, even in winter...

What's this 3 liter excuse?

Ummmm it is that the smaller cars, not the 1.9 TDI (which has low down torque) has this hiccup happening the moment you switch the aircon on and the ooomph is gone, acceleration is poor ........ But then anything lower then a 6 pot's oomph is sluggish with or without the aircon.

It was a joke the 3L thing, but it's ok I see that some didn't catch that.

Of course I caught it, that's why I made the 1.9 TDI remark

The aircon on the daily does chow into the power, but I learn to live with it for comfort purposes. No point being uncomfortably hot with no aircon and sun burning you through the sunroof on the trip that you make to work and back (sigh) every day (sigh) day after day (sigh) month after month (sigh) just because the vehicle loses some power...

Especially if you could be sitting in traffic.
The use of aircon reducing some power is Insignificant if you not racing.

to simply show off a little without the Sun coming through that little gap:roflol:

While we on the subject, the start stop function in the new bmw's ......... have question, do the aircon work when you stop in traffic and the aircon is on or does it switch off with the motor?
