Sunroof or not.. What's your preference

For me a sunroof is a must in a bmw, it just gives that WOW factor, in my E38 740i the sunroof is on tilt 99% of the time while driving,

its also always a must have when wanting to buy a used/new bmw

I'm fitting a sunroof to my etude sport in the new year too

U CAN do without the sunroof if you don't have it, but it just adds something more special to the look of the car

With the E92 its fun to have the sun roof tilted and the cover open so the light comes into the cabin, also fun to have both windows down as the windows are so huge, and alot of air and light comes through, although not recommended to drive with windows down near robots etc.

Also the windows are frameless on the E92, which is another feature when opening those long doors.

For me the coupe BMWs must have a sunroof as it adds that sporty element to the overall design of the car, as they generally sit lower and wider than the 4 door models.

If you like the tilt the sunroof provides, then why not go for the CAL look- shorter springs in front and less in the back.

But I see your point cos my wife had a cooper S with a pano roof and loved it.
I suppose some buy for function and some for features

Okay, but a sunroof is pretty cool - remember Harold and Kumar with Neil Patrick Harris and the topless chicks standing out of the Toyota Camry's sunroof while the car is driving along with nobody in the driver's seat?!

Most of the BMW’s I’ve owned have had a sunroof.
My sunroof is 70% in tilt, 20% open, 10% closed.
Karen will open my sunroof, if I’ve forgotten to open it, she needs to breath
My old pre-requirements list for looking at a new car was, power metal sun-roof, air-con, power-steering, power-windows, FSH
Now it is – air-con, power steering, electric windows, power metal sun-roof, FSH and heated powered sports leather seats – the E34 540i has totally spoilt me

I love all my car's sunroofs and the fact that it adds 10 kg's to the weight is really a non issue. When you compare M3's or M5's for example the inherent difference in the engines will make a bigger difference than 10 kg's.

You really don't have to open the sunroof to enjoy it since when it is raining or at night opening the roof panel makes the view awesome and gives a quality feel to the interior.

In terms of the E92 M3's most of the ones I have seen have the carbon roof. Also it is a no cost option so yes it is an extra but a free one.

Me previous bmw, although a 320d, had the sunroof, and the kids were crazy about it, and I liked it too.
When I bought my current ride, it didn't have one. In the beginning I missed it, but after a few weeks all was good, and life carried on.
I won't mind having a sunroof again, or a convertible would also be nice, but it would have to be in a 3-series at least or the Z4, cause I saw a guy driving a 125i convertible the other day and sorry to all the 1 series guys here, and no offence to our gay community... ULTRA GAY!! :blab:

Agree Cois :biglol:

So are you saying that If you saying that 1 series convertible = gaylord :roflol:

Tappet, I'm liking your posts... Careful, I've learnt that this may be a 335 and not M3 forum

Disclaimer: Despite being an owner of the e92 M3,Jerez likes all things BMW and especially the all powerful 335 diesel and petrol models.

Jerez, would like to meet you. Dig your posts too.
Also fed up with all the X35 heroes dissing the M3
Straight line speed is one thing - let's see the X35's perform at Zwartkops or Kyalami without overheating or going farming.

The only acceptable BMW convertible for a hetero man to drive would be a pillarless E30. and possibly a M6.

The pillar less e30 u speak of is actually the convertible .. SA got the Cabrio... I'm wrong cos they called it a cabrio ( French for convertible) but it had that silly frame in top
