Sunroof Broken

Hi Everyone, i tried opening my Sunroof this morning and it made a grinding noise....it seems the left (Passenger side) does not move....but he right hands side moves backwards, would that require a replacement of the complete mechanism or just something loose?

Any Advice?
I have an E46 330i

You talking about the inside trim panel? Its a common problem and a pita to fix.

Hi there Gizmo,

I'm not sure if it is the inside trim panel, but it seems to be the part where the roller is suppose to slide back and pull the glass into the roof. I took the glass off, and tried to clean the rails as best i could. but when you push the button to open the sun roof, the left stays in place and the right side moves back....

if i can figure out how to paste a pic in here to show you then i'll do it.....but i hope you get an idea of what i'm refering to.

I also have sunroof issues. Looks like the more stuff you have the more Sh1t you have (the more can go wrong).

It seems i may have to do the same....because having to remove the roof liner, etc etc....i get tired even thinking about it...however it'll be a good excercise to see how the whole thing works and is put together......

Thanks for all the responses, i will contact johan as well when i have the financial means......and take it from there....
