This is easy...If the car means so much to this guy and he is legit, dont be shy to put up a hard enough price...I mean the car wasnt for sale when he pitched up, you like the car, he wants the car so the deal must be sweet enough to offset your liking in the car :thumbs:

If he doesnt buy, you keep your car and wont feel too bad as he walked away from your offer to sell :thumbs:

I say he has your ID and address, first get his and his dad's details first...
You are out of the country and catching him on foot if something is off will be difficult.

Now for the positive: If he is legit, then you know the car will go to a good home and you have a good excuse to go shopping again.

I am pretty sure he is legit. We had a good long chat about the car and its history. He knew things that are not public knowledge.

Anyway I am in now hurry and the car is standing in storage at the moment.

I would be doubtful about this.
its easy to get caught up in the emotional aspect of this etc, but what you really want to know is why does he know where you live? Who gave that info to him and can that be corroborated?

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is, and this to me my friend, sounds like one of those times.

I didn't know it has aftermarket headlights in it. Clownshoe I thought you needed an adjuster repair?

Steve would be able to say, but I seem to remember he did a lot of work and replaced the fog lights etc on this car after those pics were taken, so not sure if he still has those aftermarket lights or had them changed later.

It has been in a light front end smash. Funny enough this guy did not know anything about that... so presumably there was another owner before Jeff that did that. Bonnet is bodyfilla (I have a new bonnet waiting to be sprayed and fitted), front bumper is non-original and headlights. I have been looking on and off for replacements... face-lifts are like hens teeth.

And he just knows to much about the car not to have been an owner. He got my address from a friend at the traffic dept. I am cool with that. He had had Jeffs as well but could never get hold of him. He was willing to sell his car (newer 5 series) to pay cash for the M5.

If you are worried this will be treated like any other car I have sold and that is money in my bank and cleared before any paperwork changes hands.

I almost bought my 318is motorsportII back... until I had a closer look and it was beyond rescue. But the guy who had her loved her... she was just been worked hard. Like I had done when I had her. And they guy who I sold it too.

Yep, I actually remember when I took those pics still when we were chatting at N1 City, you and Mike were talking about the bonnet and Mike saying that it's not going to be worth trying to respray that bonnet...

I reckon hens teeth might actually be easier to find. :nonono:
