howzit guys

need to know whether you guys cars also do this.

If i open the bonnet of my car and get someone to switch off my car then i hear a hissing sound, another mate told me its due to a boost leak when that happens,i have taken the car to Bmw and they have done performance checks and they say all is fine and that sound is normal.

Please advise if the same with u guys cars or is the dealership technician talking nonsense

Tx in advance :thumb:

Its hard to understand where the hissing sound is coming from and what it is.
Can you maybe isolate where its coming from. First check the two canisters situated on the driver side of the engine bay.

If you stand in front of the vehicle its coming from the passenger side, its like air being let out soon as the car is turned off,its where the dv's are

Sounds normal to me coming from those DVs.
But the most important thing is does the car lose power? Does it drive as normal? I would only be worried if there is a loss in performance.

if u hear it when u switch the car off , it cant really be a boost leak as the car is sitting in vaccum at idle.

what brought about this is my car dynoed 215kw 388nm at goch & cooper, unfortunately there wasnt another 335i for me to compare as the dyno is just a measuring tool then i loaded software and went back and i did not even get the average gains car went up 25kw &102nm,average gain would be around 35-40kw so the question came about, then i spoke to the tuner who said this could be due to boost leaks and this how you go about checking for them,i just come back from BMW now and i started up 2 other 335i's and they dont do that so im taking the car through tomorrow and they will check

55000km,that fuel pump change was also part of the re-call by BMW.

got back now from dealership again because i brought my car with today, they let me listen to another 2 335i's and the same thing happens,he says the valve closes when you switch off the car and that is the noise that im hearing and assures me if they had any form of leaks the computer would pick it up.

Anyways guys thanks for everyone's input and help, now to put the software back and go have a few runs:thumb:

tireshan...okay you are in good hands with G&C.
Can we meet up in next week. I can pop in at G&C when your software is reloaded. You can lsiten to my car as well...Turbo cars are full of funny noises it does not always mean there is a problem but I would be able to tell you right away if there is something unusual about those noises.
