Sticky petrol pedal

Hi guys

I have a '99 318i E46. The accelerator is a bit sticky if that is the right word to use.
I mentioned it to the sales guy when I bought the car and they put in a new cable. It is still sticking the first couple of mm's, is worse when the weather is cold.

Any ideas as to what can cause this?

Thanks

maybe you could spray some Q20 down the cable, also chech that there are no kinks or anything pressing the cable.
i had the same problem with my golf, only to find out that the cable had been bent, had to replace the cable.
what could also happen if your peddal is slightly loose on the floor, it could give some pressure as its not seated, but you said its only a couple of mm's so i dont think that could be a problem.

I'll check for kinks or pressure areas.
The car idles at close to 1000 rpm, just worried it is because the cable is not releasing all the way when i lift off the pedal, it is a bugger in stop go traffic at the moment.
