Starting issues

It's happened twice in the past week now where I've tried to start the car and it just turns over. There was nothing special about the occasion except maybe it was pretty cold out. It does start eventually. I'd stop, think a little, try again and then it goes, like nothing happened.

Any ideas?

My 328i normally starts first time but now and again only on the second or third attempt , I let it spin for say 4 seconds and then try again . Just learnt to live with it , it never got worse .

Have you tried leaving it in the ignition position for a lil longer? My 1 did that the just waited a couple seconds and then it cranked 100%

It hasn't bothered me to the point that I need to have it looked at, I was just checking that it's not some precursor to some major problem.

my 328 used to do the exact same thing sometimes.

I could never figure out what combination of things fixed it.

This has now started to become a problem as I think my battery is going, so I only have enough power for about 8 seconds of starter motor, if it hasn't started by then, it's jumper cable time for me :(

Try cranking it for a short time , you may find it takes as you leave the key . Wait 30 seconds before the next attempt . Good Luck .

Got a new battery. The car had a 654 Dixon battery in it but I replaced it with a 652 Varta Blue E11 battery for R1000. The old one was tested and there was something that went wrong with it, something about a cell blowing up... I wasn't really listening :p
