After contacting Numerous dealers about programming my Start Stop Function to remember my last selection. Only my dealer was prepaired to help me. Not one other dealer in Cape Town could or would Help me. Some said its not possible SMG and Auto Atlantic but they could disable it completely. Others just said it cant be done Like Auric and Tygervalley and Helderview.

Well to cut a long story short. The Correct and legal way to re-program the start stop function

All that has to be done is for the Tech to put in a request to BMW Technical head office. They will then send a unlock code that is valid for 3 days to let them program your start stop function on my F30 to remember the Last selection of the Start stop function.

It was done successfully today

:joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

Yes Sir it is. It can work in some cases but not in slow moving traffic. Now I can switch it off and it stays off or I can select it on as Normal. only time it still switches off is when you select from Comfort Mode to ECO mode but then again I only use ECO on long trips

Nice work :thumbs: indeed it does get very annoying in traffic nor do I think it's great for the poor starter and engine

That's good to hear!! You will now save your starter motor from excessive wear and the inconvenience of having to remember to turn the start/stop off each time! :thumbs:

I am pretty sure that the replacement cost of a starter motor would quickly make any minuscule fuel saving from the start/stop function look really stupid, especially on the diesels!!

Yes I see the ECU logs the Total starts and it was over the 12 000 starts in +/- 30 000km
