Hey, yeah I had some doubts when I read the article.

1. They say that the AR Downpipes cost R5500, which is the price you would pay for them in the States and not here. (Include shipping and taxes and the price jumps up quite a lot.)

2. " manual versions also suffer from a dip in boost when changing gears thanks to the CDV that limits boost between gear changes".

Ok now im not an expert by any means, but isnt this wrong? Yes theres a lag, but how can it have anything to do with the CDV. I mean its just a restrictor in the clutch line?

Pricing on the Hoosiers are also in-correct and Smooth uses Mickey Thompson's that where bought at ATS for R1850 each. He also drives a E90 and not a E92.
The article was informative enough although they could have put more information in regard to the Auto vs Manual as the rpm limiters etc they where mentioning is for a manual car.
Kudo's to them though for featuring the car that is one of todays modifying marvels. After the Gti its the second most cost to power ratio car.

Cool article. I am partly to blame for the AR price being incorrect as I told them what I paid for mine which was purchased in a group buy on another forum.
I really like the article, will do wonders for our resale value hehe. I also think they should have not included the tuners in the end that had negative things to say such as motorplan issues etc. It seems the ones that can tune the car successfully are all for it and the guys that havent penetrated the 335 market had slight negativity.
Highlight of the article for me was Sherwin from Xcedes mugshot - always a joker.

I thought it was a good article as well; actually it is fantastic exposure for our cars and its tuning potential. Also liked the fact that they featured George Smooths car...so readers can see there are well modded x35is out there running reliably...

Ya the motorplan/waranty issue had to come up and is a huge challenge for owners to overcome mentally and financially...just a pity that a tuner had to raise it...:thinker:

Of course there are many more tuning options currently available for our platform but the article captured the most important without going overboard.

Well I think for average man on the street, the article was exactly spot on to let then know the tuning capabilties that the car offeres.

Maybe Loco should look at doing this more offen with other factory cars not necessary BM brand.

another thing guys, what is/causes coking of valves.

Also overheating issues. Does it happen alot or only under track conditions. I had a turbo car before that was modded with software, induction, dwpipe and full exhaust and I hated heatsoak issues.

I'm contemplating 335i that i can get for good deal or M3 E46. I know the M3 is slower but it is still great car.

# I dont understand the first question.

The other questions as they relate to the 335/135 (x35)

# I never had overheating issues ever with my car even on the track.

# The car will eventually suffer heatsoak under heavy load and after a couple of strong WOTs but can be overcome with a good IC & Intake & DPs & meth and other cooling tweaks. I experienced this often when my car was stock especially during summer. If you track the car just give it rest periods between laps and you should be fine....stacking parts of the engine with ice bags also seem to bring down temps

On the dyno your car is bound to heatsoak after a run or two irrespective of the cooling mods you have on the car...very important to let it cool down between runs.

A lot depends on how the car is tuned - we had a tuned 335i (stock hw) at Kyalami for the entire day with oil temps around 120deg at maximum and no issues at all

I use 275/40/17 on a E36 M3 8.5J mag. I lent them to a friend with a 135 and they touched quite a bit so either the mag offset doesn't suite the car or they too wide. Have a look at what the guys in the states are running on theirs.
