:sorry: But rather safe than sorry bud. People seem to go made on the 'down run' this time of year! :nonono:

I did around 1000km this past weekend using N14 all the way to Delareyville and beyond, I must say it is not easy resisting the temptation to drive beyond the required speed limit, but hey i stuck to 120km, just avoid trouble and stick to the required spped limit.:biglol:

When we leave for the holidays we leave between 6-7AM and then the road is dead quite and we just cruise at 120km enjoying the V8 hum. Usually people finish work early on a Friday and then EVERYONE leaves for holiday. We leave the next morning.

If you want to try and get an idea of busy times on some of the roads, then go to maps.google.com en turn on the traffic option. By default it will be on live feed, but you can check the history and what the traffic is like on average on certain days and times. It's really cool, although it doesn't cover that many roads. Use this link to see an example: http://goo.gl/maps/92mzQ

Just be carefull - from Van Rheenen's pass up to PMB they catch you on your average speed between two points. So don't slow down for the camera & then speed up. Seen plenty GP cars do that - fine in the post :)

Yep, it's a sin to drive some of these cars in this way, but cruise control is your new best friend for the holidays.

Try and stay off the road between 12pm and 4am...this is normally the time when the taxi's and trucks run full out as theres no police... taxi's are reckless as they always try to pass trucks and fcuk up..:thumbdo:
If travelling from Cpt rather drive to Bloem, stay over and drive down to Durbs the next morning....Stay safe....
From Jhb, travell during the day as the N3 is kak with all the big rigs...

Stop and have a picnic just before the 2nd camera. :D

GPS with updated POIs, and cruise control at 10km/h above the relevent limits and you will be fine. Im over the whole "lets to durban to jhb in 3.5 hours" vibe, far too many trucks and inconsiderate road users and other variables that can turn a holiday into a funeral.

I'm not sure if one is allowed to say this on a public forum, but there is a way to avoid getting a fine from the average-speed cameras.

since we are using the UK based system, here's a little read. Although the best way to avoid being fined is to adhere to the speed limit.
