Boycott it? If you feel you must, who's to stop you? Why would you wanna, especially when we've featured three BMW Fanatics events (could be more)?

There are plenty other BMW fans who still buy the magazine, fans from othere forums and that aren't part of any forums at all. That will never change.

As for what's changed - nothing with the magazine. I think it's that while the magazine has been around, many of the readers started off as youngsters and they're now older and have moved on in life. The magazine still caters for that target market, and while things have expanded over the years, many have still outgrown the magazine. It's not a bad reflection on the magazine or the readers, it's the cycle of things.

Thanks to those who have been supporters for years, and thanks to those who were and aren't anymore, you've all gotten us to where we are today.

This sums up my situation with SnS.......occassionally browse the mag now

I like reading SNS. You dont have to be a boy racer to admire what some of those guys do to their cars.

everyone has a different sense of style, else we would not have a thriving modding industry. So we should try and appreciate what others put into their cars, that have them featured in SnS.

Viva SNS... Viva. you bring a special brand of cool to the otherwise boring motoring magazines on the market.

150 had more of a wow factor to your post:biglol: but i'm sure you have some repeat issues, i know i do

We must not be afraid to voice our opinions, this is a sns thread. For eg. isn't it a joke that they say 'poster', but you've got to pull it out the staples and you left with holes in it. Also Its of the same material the mag is made of, real poster quality

The Speed & Sound Magazine has given broad exposure and acknowledgement to BmwFanatics as a forum over the years. The forum is further grateful to have on its moderator team one of the SnS senior staff members who have played a crucial role in helping to establish the forum during the early years. We are indebted to his generosity and creativity shared with the forum.

The contribution of SnS to the motoring community is immense and have to be congratulated and embraced. The magazine serves a broad spectrum of the automotive community and it would be unfair to expect the magazine to serve a homogenious audience such as this Bmw forum devoted to one specific brand.

Whatever, our personal feelings or experiences may have been of SnS we cannot deny the magazines impact on the motoring journalistic world and it continues to serve a diverse readership with distinction. If individuals have ideas and proposals that could positively enhance the magazine's growth then suggesting these through the SnS formal feedback channels would not only be appropriate but influence the serving of the car enthusiast community.

We do not support the boycot or the deliberate deterioration of the SnS loyal readership on this forum.

Lets express our choices with consideration and fairness.

This agenda and association the forum has with sns is all well and good, but as long as it is clear there will no muffling of opinions and members. I personally acknowledge sns's contribution to motoring in SA, however we will continue to voice our constructive opinions making sure not to slander.

I have over 200 SnS mags ....why ?
I have bought every one that I could and have a lot of extras because I consider myself a collector of SnS so I use the extra set for reference and save my other copies , nobody reads them except me !!
I think a few guys liked the side binding and if it attracts a few more sales then good . Maybe SnS should do a poll for a new car for the binding after they make a short list .

SnS  , but think of the loyal guys who got you to here as well as the new readers .

There has never been any "muffling of opinions" and we plan to keep it that way. All we want is for members to think before they post and to try and be fair about what they post. We also want members to realize that the forum is open to the WORLD. Think about that for a second... 'cos what you post can been seen by anyone from anywhere in the world.

Anyway, I think this thread is going in circles now. So let's summarize: The point is that not everyone likes SnS, but that it is a good Mag regardless and it will continue to be so no matter who may think otherwise.

Well... look at that. It's actually so simple. :thumb:

The world is watching so they should get facts and details, eg. when you pull the 'poster' out the mag you will have staple holes in them. That's a fact whether you like the mag or not. Or we could just summarize stuff on the forum eg if an international viewer wants to know abt the 325iS or 333i we could just say, 'some like it, some don't, don't worry about facts and the details'
There's no personal feeling here, there's only facts.

Thanks for all that positiveness guys, made my day for sure. Makes a change to what I usually read and hear.

To summarise, if you like it, cool, if you don't, cool. I only get annoyed when someone has a grudge for some reason and then starts talking outta his exhaust. Through all this there's been no reply from the original poster with regards to what was said - specifically the paying to feature thing (which still makes me chuckle) and the mails he had as "proof".

Rooi_Willie said:
Question : Krutch, what can we, as a forum, do, to be more active in the local scene and promote our forum and brand?

Social media. That's all. When you have events, post them to facebook, share on the bigger group's walls (like SnS). Get a dedicated twitter account run by a few moderators. When there's an interesting thread, post the link. If you set up the twitter properly, all posts will go to a selected facebook page - two birds, one stone. When you have events that you thnk will be big enough to warrant coverage in the mag, let us know. Due to space, some might not make it, in that case we'll make a facebook album with all your pics and upload that with links to this forum. That will immediately be seen by 40 000 people. Set up polls on facebook. Also, any cool content BMW related, share it via facebook, twitter and an e-mail database (which I'm sure the forum has). Do at least one thing a day. More is better, but one will make it current and active, and that's what people want.

With a twitter account you can follow all the big BMW dealerships, BMW SA, any head office worldwide really, BMW tuning houses, other forums - so many things. Read and retweet.

We really are an awesome bunch of guys (and the odd gal) on the forum, and I personally feel that it really IS on of the better forums out there (having been a member of a few).

So thanks for the positive feedback, and willingness to sort out Coisman's issue with your mag. I'm sure he'll reply in due time then all this can be cleared up

I don't know if you're trying to stir, to prove something, or just trying to be clever. Either way you fail as you're making little sens and you clearly don't get it, but you're still new here. There's very little facts here, but there is a lot of opinions mixed with some bashing of SnS.

Posting details and facts about the 325IS or 333i with something to back it up is completely different than posting details and "facts" about SnS with nothing to back it up. Bashing SnS simply because you don't like it or the content without real merit isn't fair. :shakehead:

SnS can do what ever the hell they like with the mag and all we can do is post our opinion on whether or not we like it. If SnS just features Golfs, then that is a decision they make and not some conspiracy.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

This where we move on guys. Thanks.

Please show me where i'v bashed sns. I think YOU not getting it, coz you guys are taking the criticism of the mag personally. I like the mag, but if there's certain things i don't like should i stop buying it or voice my opinion. Why is there so much moderation on this specific thread. Others have really dragged names through the dirt
eg. Matt Q about Savspeed here http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=3305
Where was the strong moderation seen here for SNS

It seems you like to debate things until the staples fall out the pages. So lets debate:

1. You raised a concern about the poor quality of the bounding of the production material of the magazine.

What else about SnS is a concern to you:

2.
3.
4.

Look forward to your views.
