I was featured in the readers rides with my honda 7 years ago :dunno:
I am still upset about it, cause my car was pimped, sound, engine, body styling, and when I emailed them my goodies,
they requested a donation in order to do an article on my car. :cursin:
so I told them to go screw themselves. :)

So, you have to pay them to appear in their mag. :thumbdo:

@ Sanke - So you also noticed that.:ty:

@ Tech - members of this forum are regarded as Forumites or that what i called them.

If you willing to "sponsor" or "donate" or plaster "speed&sound" all over your ride, then I can promise you, your ride will get featured.

My point exactly, the reason why it was featured, is cause its the bosses car from S&S.
I dare any of you to email them with your cars specs and see if it gets featured.

i emailed them once with a few specs of a friend of mines car to see if they will feature his car as a birthday present..if i could find the email i will show yu guys my response i got a week later.
in the bottom of the mail i was offered a good advertisement deal because they saw my email signature of the business.
so i decided to see what they can offer and all i will say is that i ended up advertising in the newspapers which was cheaper than the cheapest deal they offered. Im not bad mouthing them, i enjoy reading the mag but the spark to get the peoples vote is missing

So it seems liek they are more for the company than the public. I assumed that they have people like scouts who finds these featured cars and write up on them. Good mag setup but seems to be fooling alot of people. Its a pity that there are so many smart cars around that dont get featured.

Just my 2 cents.

Are these claims about donations etc real with foundations and evidence?

If they are I will cancel my subscription on principle.

A car should get featured on merit not on advertising budget or the depths of the owners pockets.

rhett, the last time I bought a S&S mag was the issue 90, march 2009, because of this problem.
My Honda was the first in the country to have the Lexus type import lights, and they were in carbon fibre, had full coil-over suspention, that cost me =/-R4500 in 2004, Mugen racecams, custom intake, polished and ported, full freeflow&exhaust, custom built by Speedspot, Dastec chip. Full ICE install, 2 of everything, amps, subs, 6x9's, supertweeters, only had 1 shuttle install, pushed 134db's. Full Veilside bodykit with carbon trim, carbon badges, and carbon interior trim...
I could go on, but the fact is, the closest I got was the readers rides in issue 39, and the only reason why I kept on buying the mag up to issue 90, was to finish my Tazz on the magazines when you stack them on the shelf.
So, I really don't think my comments are uncalled for, and my statements ring true, and that's how I feel, and thats my oppinion, and... Rant over! :)
