UPDATE: The forum admins have given the green light, and this is now an Official BMWF Event

I went to the SPCA this morning and took some photos of the animals who we are aiming to help with this event. If I had the space I would have adopted some of the puppies since they are too cute for words.

The Facebook group has also grown from a modest 43 invites to over 300 now.

For those of you who wish to make donations by way of cash please submit your details on the following form: SPCA Midrand Donations

Beverley Russel, chairperson of the SPCA Midrand, will fordward you the banking details and issue you with an official "thank you" letter.

Regarding the event, we will only be able to do it on the Saturday. Still a bit early to plan any kind of logistics, but I like the idea of driving there together. Any suggestions on a meeting point are welcome I was thinking Woodmead Value Mart since it is close to the highway and there should be plenty of open parking in the morning since the shops will mostly still be closed.

If any of you would like to walk the dogs on the day please bring along a collar and lead since those owned by the SPCA have all disappeared.

That is all I can think of for now. On a personal note I wish to extend my thanks to each and every fanatic who has expressed interest in this event. When I decided to take on this project I had no idea just how much support there would be. raise:raise:raise:

Fourways Vet have donated flea and tick control for the SPCA. The Facebook event now also has over 1000 invitations.

Is it possible to drop off donations pre-Saturday?

I just want to look at all the possibilities as my weekend’s activities are growing by the day. Normally this would not be a problem, but I am only home on weekends these days.

This is a good idea, but I would not want to force financial participation. Donations of food etc. are participation enough. If any of the other forumites want to weigh in their opinions on this it would be much appreciated.

Some preliminary planning:

Date: 24 August 2013
Meeting Place: Woodmead Retail Park (Fournos side)
Time: 7:30am
Time to Depart: 9am

It is literally a 10 minute drive from Woodmead to the SPCA. Fournos opens at 7am and I am going to try and arrange coffee for them for all who participate in the convoy.
