Spare Wheel Kit

Hi All,

My wifes 120i, is currently running on RFT's, planning on changing to normal wheels as she is complaining of the hard ride from them.

Any suggestions on a biscuit spare wheel in terms of size, special bolts etc?

Stealers quoted me R3900 for a kit, containing wheel, jack and spanner.

Help Please......

Sorry I cant help with the kit myself, I do have a question though.

Would changing the tyres not affect your motorplan ?

I have heard several conflicting view points on this.

I've been using normal tires for 2 years. I bought a tyre puncture spray can from Midas to use in case of a puncture. I will never use RF's again.

Did they ever give you an issue when you had the serviced ?

I think my dealer is blowing smoke, says it would void my motorplan blah blah blah, I think he is talking crap.

I want to support RFT technology, but not be forced to buy BMW Approved tyre brands only - the Continental RFT's I have currently are horrible compared to the Hankook RFT's that I briefly tried out! So I reckon I will eventually ditch the RFT's and replace with normal tyres, and at the same time upgrade to 18"...

I've had three cars on motorplan and on all of them I changed the run flats. They did tell me at first that it will affect motorplan and blah blah blah.. Don't worry doesn't affect anything,if you want to,do it. I agree with Philip Foglar,we shouldn't be forced into the idea of RFT's because they crap tires :thumbdo:

R3900 is probably a ballpark figure for the kit.

I bought my stuff in bits and pieces, and it came to R3000, and I don't have a nice bag to keep the spare wheel in.

FYI: I bought the jack kit seperately, and then sourced an E46 steel space saver spare wheel, and fitted a new marie biscuit onto that.

Jack kit = R1050, Spare wheel = R1000 and spare tyre = R700.

I'm selling my RFT's soon and going for 18's, in the states I always had a can of foam, and there was a time where I had to use it, worked perfectly fine, drove at 60km/h till I got to where I needed to be.
