Yeah, i have actually done the same test, i found that most head units are really not what you want when it comes to good sound quality.

I have always enjoyed fiddling with sound systems, its an easy mod thats great fun and can pose some nice mental challenges. I once managed to get 133db in a nissan sentra with a 200RMS hertz 8" sub in the boot, was very pleased with myself.

e30 boot -has anybody taken the panel out and removed the small petrol tank ? make up a box to fit the space,cut hole in bulkhead,mount box to bulkhead .bit extreme,use quality ( expensive ) components as far as possible .

ok, so i did the box change.... not as deep as my band pass, but i suppose i could live with it, besides, it fits better and looks great and i got more boot space.
