So this happened to me today

So this morning on my way to work, I decide I'm going to take De Waal into town.

I'm in the right lane doing about 80 as I'm approaching the last right bend before the camera. There's a bakkie in the left lane as we approach the bend and when I'm about halfway ahead of him, he turns straight into my lane.

There were no indicators as I approached him, so I'm definitely not at fault. We pulled over to assess the damage and he tells me this; "Eish I just didn't see you. The road it bends so I couldn't see." That threw me over the edge.

AR form has been filed and I'm in the process of speaking to the company (it was a company car) and getting all of this resolved.

the worst part the crappy panelbeaters you get out there..... the car will never be the same again.

I'm taking the car to Auto Atlantic for an assessment and it'll be repaired by a BMW-approved panelbeater. I would never take the car elsewhere.

not nice, but accidents happen, just a pity that we who love our pride and joy usually feel the pain worse than the average company driver in a company bakkie

Just received my estimated repair quote from Auto Atlantic - R27 799.25. Very expensive lesson to learn for the guy who hit me.

I must commend Auto Atlantic on how efficient they are. I got there this morning at 08h50, left at 09h10 after going through all the damages, and received my quote at 09h25.

Sorry to hear this, at least you are ok, The major issue IMO is not whether you can repair properly or not, it's that your car now has comments on the system, lowering its resale value......

:thumbdo: sorry man, its seems to be getting worse over the past few weeks, I have had so many near misses for the exact same reason, they just move over without checking or indicating and when you hoot at them its like WTF is your problem. :RedNo:

Sorry to hear bud.

People on our roads are terrible. And on a bike it's even worse. Specially guys that drive without lights at sunset and sunrise or the just turn where ever the F.... they want without indicators.

For me approvals are just panelbeaters that managed to achieve a certain level of workmanship at a specific point in time, the time when they were being inspected. I dont believe any approved panelbeater will pass a unplanned inspection from whichever panel or board does the approval.

I have seen excellent work from people who have no approvals and also shoddy work from those who have lots of approvals.

In the end, i am saying dont take for granted that they are approved and the work will be good, rather treat them like a panelbeater that has no approval and be extremely critical about their work.
