Smoke from Exhaust of E46 N46B20 engine

Hi Good People,
I'm interested in buying a 2004 E46 BMW. While testing driving it, i noticed a lot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Then it reduced on our way back.
i also noticed the revs go up to 6 or more before the gear changes. The seller says it's coz it has not moved for a while and it also needs to be serviced. But i think he is just marketting his product.
It's at 56,000 km on the clock. E46, N46B20
What could be the problem?
Is it Normal or there is an anomaly?
Do you guys think it's worth getting and that the issue can be fixed with ease?

I would stay away from that the car. The valve stem seals are probably shot which means the head will probably have to come off which means a R20k rebuild.

I have the exact same car, exact same engine with 150k on the clock and it doesn't even smell of smoke!
The km's on that thing is turned back my friend!!!!
Do not walk....run away from that deal!!!
