Sliding sunroof anti-trap function failure

I tried to tilt my sunroof and then the hood lining opened completely and the error message appeared on the dashboard. If I try to close the hood lining I only hear a click. The sunroof did not tilt. I tried to reset the sunroof by holding the button in for longer than a minute while the vehicle is on, in park and the error message showing and nothing.

Any other help with this?

Cannot believe I missed stating which car it is. It is a X3 (F25).

2011 535 just did the same thing. Any suggestions? I tried the reset procedure but that glass ran the full cycle but the shade didn’t move.

Check if the fuse is not blown, if that does not work take it to sunroof boys they really helped me a lot with my sunroof problems.

If not, take it to a Sunroof specialist, SUNSHINE SUNROOFS are in Randburg, not sure what's your loaction.

picked up the same problem on my e92 M3. BMW tried re-initialising - no resolution. have to get it booked in.

assuming this is going to cost an arm and leg.....
