Rear strut bar fitted.
Anyone who tells you it is easy must be an octopus.
Now the debate will start as to whether one hides it or leaves it visible.

Drivers door assembled.
Need to change the mirror but that will be done later.

What are you going to change the mirror for? Still chrome I'm guessing so just a straight replacement? I'm so so tempted to get my car shipped from Cape Town to Joburg to bring it to you.

Nice work Peter!

Notice how the window mechanism is constructed as well as how the beading along the window sill is secured with nuts.
I wonder how many of the new cars will have beadings in as good a condition as this shark in 30 years time.

Nice work Peter!

Rick acquired 2 new chrome mirrors as the one on the car have a few scuffs.

A peak of the roof lining acquired from England at considerable cost.
It is off a hi line car (full leather interior).
The white stripe in the seam is leather cream which will be toothbrushed out.(A technique learned from Andy)
I still need to stretch the left side a bit and when completed I shall post a pic of the whole roof.

Just because it is such a striking detail.

Hide the strut bar, make a sleeve from matching boot carpet to cover it. Keep the OEM appearance.
Stellar work as always Pietie!

The leather had pulled off the sun visor support board.
Those with e28 cars are all too familiar with the vinyl dropping from heat degradation.

Pulled the front side and coated with glue

This is the best I could get it to.
I have set a few heavy objects on it and will let it dry properly overnight and will continue with stretching and glueing the front portion later.

btw this is the first hi line roof lining I have seen on the e24

Had the pleasure of meeting this car amongst others in the metal yesterday in Peters garage... Words

:sorry:... do no justice to this car (Sorry for the 2 post reply)

Left mirror refurbished

Those with sharks know that the plastic surround breaks on the edge.
Removed and repaired.

Left door completed.

Dashboard removed to fit OE aircon unit sourced from another shark.

A few pics to prove that the car is progressing slowly but surely.

Aircon blower unit located and wired..you may recall that teh car was fitted with an aftermarket aircon which we chucked away and sourced the proper OE components.
This entailed taking paterns off an old shark and replicating all the mounting points for the blower/aircon hardlines etc.

Speakers were remounted flush against the rear seat support structure....Rick insists on having a completely stock looking interior so speaker placement and music fidelity have become a compromise.

A special set of clocks were acquired, I think there may be some 100 of these in SA.

Passenger area is now complete and closed up.
Waiting on a window switch and we are done.

Finalised the amps location and mounted them.

The sub woofer box will be installed with a board that will enclose and hide everything and will be carpeted thus keeping the original look in the boot.

Closed up the center console with a new aircon blower grille.

Only to re open everything as the full speed on the fan was not working all the time.

and here is the culprit. A microswitch that has a crack on it.

That looks magnificent.

Aren't they just? :D

I think I am most excited about having a working Aircon and the AC grill that fits properly!

Also some sneaky sneaky things planned. :pimp:

Fantastic work as ever Peter, I will find a microswitch tomorrow!

E23 RSA 745i clocks. Only clocks to get the ///M logo on the speedo as well.

Am I right?

Here is a pic of the aircon hardlines which were previously rubber and exited on the left side of the engine compartment and snaked back to the right side.

A mess to say the least.

Currently trying to make sense of the wiring diagram so that I can connect it straight into the fuse box.
Not as easy as one would think especially as the harness is off an e28 535 which was an earlier model and the wires were attached with spade terminal in the fuse box which the shark does not have.

Very nice, keep the pictures coming.

Have you decided on a radio/head unit yet? The original one would keep things as they were, but sound quality might not be quite what is needed to feed the sub.

The problem is finding a modern unit that doesn't look out of place in a classic. I would be interested to know what you come up with.

My suggestion would be to keep the original radio in the dash and hide an iPod in the glovebox.
